So factory 4.3 gears in the 80 rear differential was a bit of a drama. I have dropped the 105 4.3 locked 3rd into an 80 diff but had not bolted the 105 4.3 r&p into or on the 80 carrier.

It doesn’t work since the 105 is the same as a 100 with the ring gear being thicker, tapped for bolts and a larger center diameter.

So we ordered up a 100/105 carrier to mates the 4.3 ring gear to.

No worries there and while we were at it we note some wear on the cross bars for the spider gears in the carrier. We replaced these with new OEM parts along with the four pinion gears and two side gears in the carrier.

4.3 ring gear torqued. The 100/105 runs 101ftlbs on these vs the 81ftlbs on the 80 pass through bolts.

Diff done but ran out of time to install in the housing.

A bit of wear & tear on the original spindles in front so we installed new ones with the roller bearing - bushing combo.

Is that tint in addition to the OEM tint, or did you start with clear glass and tint that? What tint did they use? It looks great!

Original glass with new ceramic tint.
