Your LS2 is going to be insane... Honestly I can say I am anticipating test driving it....

Nope. Just need to take it to a "ref" (state emissions inspector) and meet the emissions standards of either the motor or the vehicle, whichever is newer (stricter). Should be a breeze really as long as motor/donor vehicle was legal in CA. (For instance you put a 2003 Chevy motor into a 79 fj40, you need to meet the emissions req of the 03 chevy. You put the 79 fj40 motor into the 03 Chevy truck, still need to meet the 03 Chevy truck emissions req.)
And I should add Jose, that I would be very interested in doing this swap with/alongside you... Ive got a cherry picker and engine stand...

Finnyfam60 is correct! Let me know when your ready for some ponies under the hood to move that beast :)

That's good to know! Since I plan on keeping this truck forever, I was always told myself I swap in a V8 when the original engine went kaboom instead of paying a ton of money to rebuild a gutless fuel guzzling tractor engine. Do you have a rough estimate of what it costs for parts and labor, not including the donor engine?

PM me the specs on your truck ie lift size and hp you'd like. This way I can give you a more exact quote. Thanks

More work done today but on the meticulous end ie. cleaning engine bay, transfer case, removing wiring harness from 1fz, coolant sensor fittings, replaced vacuum lines on tcase, installed tcase on transmission. Back at it again Sunday to install the complete drivetrain.

Today was a break on the swap to do Doug Thorley headers on my brothers 100. Hopefully back at it tomorrow.

Cuz you know everything we do to our cruisers is for the ladies! ;)

Little more work done today. Motor mounts cut out and frame cleaned ready for the new drivetrain. Did some wiring work and place the oil sender in the pan.

Try and snap some pics of your engine mounts.

Do you still use Ditry Dingo ?

Are you learning something new with each swap you complete??? I am waiting for you to try the 6l80 trans...

Block off comes on trucks and cars with out the oil cooler. I don't have a part # but a super common part at any dealer. When I mount the motor mounts I will snap some pics and they are yes still Dirty Dingo's. Anything we do in life we learn new avenues and means to make something easier and faster. The main point I never lose though is staying meticulous and run the same pace to achieve top notch work. Man up and send me your cruiser and let's do an LS3 with a 6speeder :D !!!!!!

I think I reused the block off plate that came on the truck pan my motor was equipped with. It's a simple swap over to the f body pan.

One think I love about these motors - every single gasket is assembled dry. No sealer is used. They are all metal bonded and formed to be a perfect fit and hold their shape. The pan swap is a 10 minute job including the swap over to the f body oil pickup and windage tray. The sealing technology is light years ahead of the 1fz.

Light years or ten years? ;)

Toyota used MLS gaskets on the exhaust manifolds, some credit there!

There's something to be said for only having to carry around a tube of FIPG for any (well, most) repair jobs on a Toyota. I've heard that was a design consideration, but that could just be a forum rumour.
