I wanted to share a few photos of a 1995 80 series that we installed a 5.3L into. We were able to install engine without having to use a lift kit, which most will say you need a lift kit.

The transmission uses a shallow 4L60e pan with no modifications. The trick is all in driveshaft and engine vertical placement when installing the motor mounts. Drive shaft is 1.75 diameter tubing with Toyota flanges.

Clears the pan perfectly :)

Thank you. Yes all GM accessories.

I'd like to know more details if you can!

1.75 tubing is pretty small... Likely to whip.
I've run 1.5" my guess is its thick wall. Should be any trouble.

what motor mounts and headers did you use? what radiator is that? stock 5.3 fan or electric fans?
Dirty Dingo engine mounts, custom built dual bypass radiator with dual 12" Spal fans that are controlled by the GM PCM. I do not use headers as they are prone to leaks, Hooker cast manifolds are what I use as they are the tightest fitting.

We used a pretty heavy gauge tube so I don't believe that will be happening :)

Nice:clap:
Two years ago a guy I know crashed his Chevy 1/2 ton. He only had basic insurance on it and got no compensation. I could have had the engine and tranny for peanuts but at the time I decided I didn't have enough $$$ or skill to do a 5.3 swap. He sold the whole truck to a wrecker for $400. Oh well.

did you get the tach to work with just the stock pcm or did you use a box?
do you have the pin outs for the OBD1 and OBD2 trucks figured out enough to make a flying lead for the stock wiring and if so would you be willing to share?
