I have read countless threads and still can't figure out how to fix my problem.

1994 land cruiser when put into drive, won't down shift to first, just try's to start out in drive, I can manually shift to 1st then 2nd then 3rd and it works great, and then mashing on the throttle it won't down shift either.

I purchased a solenoid group aw450-43le from cobra transmissions and replaced all 4 of my solenoids,
that didn't change anything except now my drive light in the dash isn't on.

Thanks for any tips on how to fix this

the wiring connections next to the starter? sounds like a wiring problem if your solenoids are good. what did you do with your old ones? want to make some money back?

I did unplug the connectors above the starter and no corrosion and dialectic greased them. i have the 4 solenoid on the work bench. once i figure out this problem. i could make u a great deal on them

Did you specifically/thoroughly check the round barrel plug with 7 or 8 wires that goes to the NSS? That was the fix for my son's 94 that had the exact same issue. We also had dash indicator light bulb issues and no reverse lights until this was repaired.

Yes. the plug that some of the other threads show.

Is the button on your console pushed to engage 2nd gear start?

Thought I'd better ask the obvious.........

Don't think the 93,94 cruiser had the second ger start. That began with the 95 model year.

I have a neighbor with a 94 and his has a 2nd gear start button.

On the console, to the right of the 4WD shifter and closer to the "cup holder" are two buttons. One says "2nd' the other says "PWR". If you push one, the other pops up.

The 2nd button forces the transmission to start out in 2nd and upshift to 3rd, but it will not shift back to 1st. This is to control traction on slippery surfaces, particularly when in 4WD Low.

My 95 has that button. but my 94 doesn't so far i changed the 4 solenoids and ordered a transmission computer if that doesnt fix the problem. I will techeck the connections again. then off to the tranny shop

Was this a pre-existing condition or new issue when finished changing solenoids?

I'm guessing original issue, but asking.

I bought it like this. figured by reading the threads it was solenoid related. guess it wasn't

Odd 94. Mine is nothing like that.

I'm guessing your neighbor has a 95+. USA 80s have only have Pwr button, defrost and attena up/down buttons in that location. Thats a stock 93/94

What's the Rest of the Story?
