While I’m stuck at work and contemplating important life decisions such as auto or manual locking hubs here are a few more pics from my weekend in 2wd.

I would say they are about an 1/8th of an inch from touching. Off road wheel flex and/or rough pot holes in the road hit at high speeds would seem to make it rub.

Wow, that's closer than I thought it would be; thanks for mentioning it before I ended up with problems! 😬

Also: great pictures!! Love it!

Keep the boxes for the legs closed and it should be an easy return & purchase of the longer legs if you're within 30 days. I also neglected to take measurements and am in the process of exchanging for the 155mm legs. The 130mm legs are too short for my comfort. I opened and installed a pair which I likely can't return now but it sounds like they're going to take the other 3 pairs back.

Front left hub is sorted!!

When my front axle was rebuilt they clocked the hub wrong. All is well now and we have full lock!

I still want to do the conversion eventually, but it will have to wait for now.

I’ll keep the parts list handy and maybe it will be a winter project.

You‘ll be back and the title of the thread will be “I should have converted to manual hubs when I had the chance….”

😂😂😂

And it will be some first world problem story of woe….

But, to each their own electric locking hubs story of education.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

I’m laughing because we all know it’s true.

This horse has been led to the water and ya’ll can’t force me to drink it and/or the kool-aid!

Not to be contrary, but I don't know that it's true; from what I can tell, that's more of an example of someone's inability to assemble the hub correctly than a commentary on the hub itself...

It's okay; the Kool-Aid is self-serve.

Hey, congrats on the upgrayedd! I've been through Indy a few times; you'll definitely be in a different terrain there. Lots of long roads to get out and explore.

At a minimum it demonstrates a failure to test/verify proper function.

I'm in similar situation....my electric hubs are gonna go away and be replaced by manuals.....its just a matter of time and money

But when I did my front axle rebuild I tested for proper function of each side.....just because the green light on the dash goes on doesnt mean that one or both of the hubs have enguaged.....its a really poor design.

Jack up a wheel, turn it and look for the drive shaft to turn (assuming open diff)....if it turns then the hub locked....rinse and repeat on other side.

Think I still have a used set of the Radd Cruiser adapters I'd let go. Wouldn't full-on recommend them long term but have run a set on my 77 and they're more better than the automagic stuff. You'll be able to use the hubs with all the other manual parts when the time comes.

Like these!

DM if interested.

Welp, my parents were visiting Florida from Michigan and are taking my pride and joy to Indiana on their way back home. I would like to say it’s in good hands, but there were already some very concerning maneuvers on the road here in town by the old man within the first few minutes. I won’t be getting much sleep the next couple of days that’s for sure.

You're not driving it out there?? Party foul! 😉

I've been meaning to ask: how do you like the side awning?
I absolutely love it. I might be a bit biased though and less critical as I got pretty steep discounts on all of my ARB parts and gear.

If I had to do it all over again (and had extra cash to spend) I’d get one of those wide angle bat-wing type awnings though that would also over the rear of the vehicle.

I might be removing my roof rack and gizmos once I rejoin my Cruiser in Indy so that I can store it in the garage. I don’t want her outside and freezing catching colds and what not.
