been a loooong week at work...couldnt get anything done the past few days.... went hunting 2 days (thursday and friday)....so...back to the wiring...
being AWAY from the soldering iron, wires and the whole deal does have its benefits....you get to think outside the confinds of what you have in front of you....literally. so....i found a 'theory' to trace my faults....breaking each units link to the circuit and using an ohmmeter to find where things have gone wrong....
this is SUPPOSED to be the right way....but when you are surrounded by wires and plugs waiting to get in the cruiser, you sort of lose your way....at least i know thats what happened to me as i DID mention that toyota cars are switch grounded in some earlier post.
anywayz.....after weeks with our mechanics, i guess i have started to think like them....in a VERY dumb move from my part, i actually had the headlights earthed to the body and not the switch....
Taillight issue was the earthing and then found the combination meter was toasted....had so many solders at the back i guess one or two wires may have 'crossed' paths.....so went and got me another used one....also bought a working hazard switch (mine wouldn't stay pressed) and the lever AC type unit (mine had no markings and no clips to hold the cables).
did a quick test for the headlights....working PERFECT now...taillights still have an issue with which wire should go where...doing that in a few hours
got my front wipers working (also bought a container and washer motor)...will do the rear after i get all the required for licensing parts done.
will post images later on.
