My bet is the shift solenoids. 85420-60050 x2.

Gloves off

Doug,

I am dead right on this one. The symptoms are exactly the same as mine and two others that I have personally been involved with in the repair process. The transmission, vehicle mileage, quirks, ETC match up to a "T"

This quacks like a duck and walks like a duck.

Oh, re service intervals. Mine was serviced at 15k, 30k, 45k, 60k (full replacement),75k, 90k, 105k (full replacement), due later this week at 120k.

Sounds like he was pretty sure at the time, and it did solve his own and two other's issues at the time. You'd probably have to talk to the original poster to find out if his issue was similarly concluded.

Well, I can't see the last time he posted (getting some error) but I don't see getting an answer from him any time soon.

According to CDan, if I read this correctly, the solenoids are serviceable, is this correct?

I believe the solenoids are replaceable, but not serviceable.

Too bad they aren't serviceable... spendy little buggers...

...or you could drive it...

I had another problem earlier; this time I was in an intersection. I have a habit of putting my vehicle in neutral until the light turns green. It was at this time that the problem resurfaced, which tells me that this happens when I am shifting from park or neutral, but not when I leave it in drive (which I am going to do from now on).

I just bought this truck, and have already put almost $2500.00 into it so far. So, I will have to wait to fix it properly, or find a free transmission somewhere.

All right, I have decided what I am going to do. I am going to drop the pan and see if cleaning will do any good, and if not, it will have fresh fluid.

That is not going to have any effect on the bad solenoids but it won't hurt them either. It will also give you practice pulling the pan.

One thing I still don't fully understand, Dan, is how a bad solenoid would give intermittent operation; today, for example, I have had zero issues. It's not that I do not believe you, but I just can't get past this.

Mine worked off-and-on and got progressively more off than on over time. After the 4th time I decided it needed to get fixed before it started effecting the rest of the transmission.

Good to know (sort of) that I am having similar results; in the sense that you have the experience with it and that the repair worked for you.

In the meantime, would you mind sending me a PM quote - or would you suggest trying to buy it locally?

Thanks!

The solenoids (2, 85420-60050) list for $195.48 each. I sell them to Mudders for $146.61 each. I do not know what your local dealer would sell them to you for.

Thanks Dan.

Get them from Dan.

You are garanteed to get the correct parts for your 93.

....and the karma is free;)

Of course I will, it is just a matter of waiting now.

The billfold is not always up to the task. I have experienced that myself a thousand times over.

Very true. And these beasts are certainly not going to stop asking for everything you've got, that's for sure.

But, I do want to take care of this. Never before have I so enjoyed a vehicle as I do this one - in only the week or so that I have owned it.
