My zodi hot camp shower came in handy on the trip, was definitely money well spent.

Had a full moon that night so my brother and I climbed this rock outcropping in the middle of the night and enjoyed the solitude. In a span of an hour and a half one car passed on the highway. We had a view of the whole valley so could see the headlights of the car while it was still ten to fifteen miles away.

Spent Thursday night camping up on guanella pass at clear lake. Friday morning I dropped my brother off at the Denver airport and he flew back to LA while I put the pedal down toward Alabama. I drove most of the night and made it home Saturday morning without incident. 6900 miles. Engine ran awesome. I spent the whole second leg of the trip, 7 nights total sleeping in the tent. Can't wait to go back.

Every time I see others go to the places I've been I realize I don't take enough photos and the ones I do take suck.
Nice trip!

I guess it's time for a little more tech for this thread. I debated on starting a new thread for the next bit but since this engine will actually end up in this 60 I may as well keep it all together. So my plan all along (since buying the two nos long blocks) was to install one of the new 12hts and the new h55 and split case (that I'd built earlier in this thread (original tcase from this truck)) into the 60 whenever it goes in for its next big operation.

I have the rebuilt cable locked axles to install and want to purchase and install an OME suspension hopefully within the next year. So here is my thinking....since the axles and suspension is coming out, it would only be a few more bolts for me to separate the frame from the cab...with the cab off it would be extremely easy for me to pull the engine and trans. This way I could pull the cab, the drivetrain as a whole, pull the leaf springs, i could powder coat the frame and install the new axles and suspension and the new drivetrain. I could give the under side of the cab a good steam clean and maybe some sort of undercoating. I am NOT going to disassemble any of the body or the interior or even the front clip.

I'm going to try to talk one of my buddies into letting me borrow his lift for a week or so to do all of this. Axles are done, the new drivetrain will be ready prior to disassembly and if I have the suspension parts, I see no reason why I couldn't do all this in a week or two at most.

So let's get the ball rolling..one of the new 12hts I bought had gotten some moisture in one of the cylinders. I decided to tear into it so as to not leave a stone unturned. I have another oem 12ht overhaul gasket set here so why not?
