UPDATE 9/5/2019: ASKING PRICE: $37,000 (AS-IS)

Please read my comments in 9/5/2019 post below.

=================================

Hi folks, I have been following mud for a long time but don't post frequently. Wanted to introduce my BJ45 Troopy as I am thinking about selling it and need some guidance on valuation and whether to put it on Ebay/BaT or Hemmings, Craigslist (or any other option). I want to post it here as well. It is JDM, purchased overseas, great survivor and solid frame/body to begin with, got it lightly restored (not frame-off) and imported. Countless hours of hard work and effort went into it over all. Wouldn't be selling if I didn't have something else to replace it! :) Hope it finds a great home. Pictures below.

- 1984 BJ45
- VIN# BJ45-004841
- 3B diesel 3.4L
- 4 speed H41
- RHD
- Power steering
- A/C (working, R134a)
- Locking hubs / ASIN
- Custom Soft top (new, never used) with bows, soft top doors and jerry can carrier
- New upholstery and carpets
- Tire carrier
- Solid, no accidents
- Imported last year in August 2018
- Garage queen since then and driven about 500 miles / 800 km
- NO leaks from engine, transmission, differentials etc. (except minor leak from P/S. See known issues below)
- 136,329 KM ( = 84,710 miles)
- Virginia Registered
- Antique tags
- Located in Norther VA / DC area.
- Clean title in hand

RECENT WORK DONE:

I had a reputable Land Cruiser specialty shop thoroughly go through the entire vehicle with following work done last month.
- New fluids all around (engine, transmission, transfer case, differentials, steering)
- New Anti freeze coolant
- Brakes checked and adjusted
- All belts checked
- All electrical system checked
- New fuel filter and hand primer pump
- Under-carriage (frame / body) restored with thorough deep cleaning, rubberized undercoating and chassis black satin finish (Axle, leaf springs and other mechanical components not painted)

KNOWN ISSUES:

- Speedometer stopped working since last 100 miles/160 km approximately due to broken speedo cable diagnosed by the shop. All other gauges work including fuel, amps, temp, oil.
- Very minute leak from power steering.
- Suspension okay with absolutely no drive/ride issues. It may need new shocks / bushings at some point.

Hey not sure if I missed your asking price. How much you thinking to ask or put as reserve?
This is a veeeeery nice restoration. Beautiful truck. Great job.
If the price is in my budget I just may have to take this from you...

That is nice looking

Is this still for sale ?

Folks, so sorry it took me so long to update my thread. Actually the 3B engine of my Troopy ceased on me. I was driving it back home and I took the final turn into my street I heard a clank noise and the engine shut down all of a sudden. I checked the basics. Oil level was fine. No leaks underneath. All belts were fine. Battery was fine. Tried the ignition and it would just make a click sound but not turn the engine. Had it towed to my mechanic whom I trust. He tried to turn the engine with a wrench but it just would not turn one bit. I am told it might be the lower end of the engine but can't be sure.

With that said I was originally going to ask $49k for this Troopy. It's still an awesome Troopy but obviously needs a rebuild of motor or a new motor. I checked with Cruiser Parts and they have plenty of options available including a matching 3B with low miles and 90 day warranty. There are also other Diesel options like 1HZ (that would be awesome!), 1PZ or 2H that are all available. Going 3FE gas is another option.

Things happen for a reason and in a way I am glad that this happened before I sold it to someone. At this point I can sell it as-is and it is a clean slate for anyone to put a motor of your choice. Obviously I will not ask my original price but not going to do a throw away price either. So I am thinking $37,000 for this beautiful Troopy AS-IS. Hope this is reasonable and understandable.

Please PM me to discuss. I promise I will respond to your PMs and update this thread quickly. Price related discussion please PM, I would appreciate it because obviously I am trying to sell this vehicle. We can also talk on phone or Facetime chat. I will do best and work with you to answer all your questions. I love this Troopy and would love to see it go to a loving new home!

Once again, ASKING PRICE: $37,000 (AS-IS)

I must be missing it. But since this is in the classifieds, what is the asking price? (Price is required to be here, right?)

Grrrrr...just posted the question about the price and then the price response from 9/5 popped up. Please ignore my last.

Bump for this Troopy. I am open to offers.

Please PM me.

That sucks the 3B is usually bullet proof :(

What market did this originally come from? I haven't seen a RHD BJ45 troopy before, only LHD BJ45s or RHD HJ47s (which just goes to show that I haven't seen a lot of things in my life!).

Really beautiful truck. If I could bring myself to be completely financially irresponsible I'd be calling you up, but I'd have to have the divorce lawyer lined up in advance, with a bankruptcy guy not too far behind.

GLWS.
