I believe the anti rattle spring is on incorrectly. It’s depicted on the bottom when looking at the FSM.

Is the spring/clip rubbing on the rotor?

Honestly, I did that work 2years ago, I don’t think the spring was rubbing the rotor, I may have adjusted things a bit. I prolly put it back the way I took it apart. Makes sense that the spring would be on leading edge of brake pad as tire rotates forward. Trucks been parked for the winter but I’ll check it soon to confirm it’s all good. Thanks for the heads up, I could use a 1st gen 4x4 FSM.

I Took the heater core and fan assembly apart for a much needed cleaning. Dash vents had mouse “debris” and everything was cleaned with hot soapy bleach water! Old tooth brushes are useful on neglected old Toyotas.

I put everything back together and now it has clean fresh heat and NO shooting “debris”!

Second gear grinds bad so I removed the G54 tranny and took it apart.

I discovered that there was no release bearing clip installed by the shop after they R+R and painted the tranny t/c. So I got one from SF
Toyota and installed it and a clutch release cyl boot also

I didn’t find anything severely damaged on the 2nd gear or synchros and cleaned up some rough edges with a dremel tool then I re-installed it in the pickup and went fora drive.
Better but still grrrinds!

Took the G54 out again and after cleaning it up I installed the chain drive setup I scored from Classic Cruisers from off the ground. Tested and at first I heard grinding and was about to get frustrated when I checked and the front shaft was touching the cross member slightly so I removed the cross member to clearance it a bit and hammered the saddle to the side, I’ll
Weld it later. The PO had modified the x member and mount from the original L52.

Reinstalled and went for a test drive in my backyard and was relieved to have all smooth gears for now to drive it.

My son helped me scrub her down with scotch brite pads and brush apply Penetrol Flood to bring out the patina.

I removed inner fender liners and found more
Mice nests. This pickup sat for 10-15 years in NM sun!

Just for fun I lined up my 1st gen, 3rd gen. and my 17 yr. old sons 1st gen Tacoma that I resurrected from his uncle who drove it into the ground! (Whole nother thread!)

As you can see in the pics I received and installed front corner lenses, still available from Mr. T, and running lights which interchange with 60 series land cruisers, and d.s. Plastic bumper cap!

When I bought the truck it came with a pair of floor sections cut from a 2nd gen truck in mint shape, no rust! It wasn’t until close inspection I realized they aren’t exact match so I’ll have em up for sale for best offer!
IMG_5424.jpeg

I decided to just patch the rust holes on both sides with sheet metal and screws for now. I’ll weld in patches when the time is right with proper pieces. Maybe I’ll hammer pieces in factory shape like @aztoyman did! Great inspiration man!

Looks good and solid. 👍 If I would have had sections of cab like you are offering at the time, I'd have used it. Sometimes you have to improvise and use what you have though.

I bought the passenger side B-pillar vent and a set of sun visors from eBay.

IMG_5443.jpeg

Had to hammer out a little body work around the vent from the PO crunch.
Also got the dome light lens online and some sound deadening for the floor. Lots of little things that really add up!
Performed the 22LR shell casing mod fix for the horn, beep beep zip dang!

Oh, and 22R emblem for the valve cover!
+ PVC filter.

Researching the “new to me 22R” I learned these engines/carbs like around 3 psi fuel pressure and the stock pump puts out like 7
I purchased a fuel regulator and oil filled gauge for the engine bay. Installed a few 90* barbed fittings on the regulator for better fuel line routing.

I decided the Weber ran like crap at mid range so I’d find an Aisin stock carburetor to rebuild.
@G00SE at Classic Cruisers hooked me up with 2 rebuildable 22r carbs shipped out quick. I bought a kit and got busy!

Chem dipped the carb housing, nice and clean now.
