This is a really rare Land Cruiser it's also not sold but I don't have any doubt it will sell. A repainted truck would not bring that kind of money and restored non-US truck certainly won't bring that kind of money. There was a green non-USA 83 on eBay not long ago and they were looking for 40k. Not sure if they ever got it.

Charlie, I think there is a big difference in the two land cruisers... Yours and this one... Not miimizing your cruiser at all... Look at this video here... It is on the 1983 which is now on ebay for 64,000. Last week this cruiser was going for 55k... 1 week later it goes up 9 grand... Maybe he will get it.....?? Maybe not...??

Your link points to a YouTube video about catalytic convertors.

I never saw this Cruiser actually listed for $55K - I saw it right when he took it in before the "Phase One" work and he had an estimated price of $55-$60. It's nice to be sure. I think my Beige 83 with the Old Man Emu suspension and 53,000 miles edges it out. Of course it only took me since 1995 to find it. Problem is it's too nice to drive. :-(

Isn't there some doubt about the numbers thrown around about the '83s. No one seems to be able to verify the 300 total and 50 with factory PS and AC.

1983 Production Numbers

It's a generally accepted estimate. According to Cool Cruisers website, in 1983 Toyota produced 4,805 Land Cruisers which includes all FJ40's & FJ60's. That data was provided by Edward Harris of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. Inc., Customer Relations. I assume this is a US number but it does not say. This does not however jive with the VIN numbers listing. With a starting VIN of 361221 and a ending VIN of 366603. If you do the math and assume sequential numbering, I get 5,382 vehicles.

According to http://www.toyota.com.kw data, 1983 Total Land Cruiser sales worldwide is reported to be 1,302,295. That would be all models worldwide.

I think the 300 number is believable based on the limited number identified over the years. Here's a Registry thread where you will find a few.

Haha. thanks. I wont be asking $64K. I posted just because I saw others doing it the same with other sales out there. It helps define what the market is for these vehicles. Somewhere between $15k and $65k although I did see one at $88k. Seems to be $50k for a US model 1983 either original or perfectly restored.

I am seeking an answer to the following two questions:

A.) How many Land Cruiser FJ40's were shipped to the USA in 1983?

B.) Of these trucks, how many were equipped with factory power steering and A/C?
