you boys picked this one apart:

there was a thread recently asking why sellers do not post their goods on Mud before posting elsewhere and out of respect for that thread here goes:

the truck arrived yesterday off the train and it is one sweet unit...very very clean.
i am installing new Jeep service tires (the truck came with the Jeep service tires but they are worn)
brand new hub caps are being installed
brand new rear bumperettes are being installed
brand new rad is being installed(old one had a pin hole leak)
brand new batteries are being installed (old ones didn't match)
all fluids and filters are being changed out
the hubs are being painted black again and the locking hubs are getting the blue cleaned off
brand new 2 1/2" aluminized exhaust is being installed (the old one wasn't acceptable)

it is not factory original and not being advertised as such, there is NO BONDO in this truck. all the spot welds are still visible under the new paint, this truck was repainted in Japan factory colour and an extremely nice paint job it is.

there is a TINY bit of rust as seen in the pictures. the drivers seat bottom is ripped all the rest of the seats look like new.
the top is not a factory original.

PTO winch, AC, PS and H41, 4.11 gearing... this baby can C R A W L.
3B with rotory pump rated at 98 hp compared to the NA version of 92 hp.

if you have any questions feel free to ask. i will try to answer them. this truck is going to our first attempt at EBAY sale next month.

the price is a firm $20,000 CND. storage can be arranged for the US Cruiserheads when paid in full.

cheers

so yesterday i was doing another closer examination of this rig looking for all the factory spot welds, amazing. everything is as it should be, the floor is rock solid with the spots showing under the paint.

i looked for signs of a repaint as suggested in Japan, no tape marks, no over spray, no sign what so ever...so IF it is a repaint it is one of the best i have ever seen.

the truck is very unique in many ways. the primer pump is on the fuel filter housing, the engien has the rotory pump. the aftermarket AC, the full length rear seats with the fold out leg.

even the aftermarket top and bars are far superior to any Kayline or Best top.

litterally the ONLY damage on the inside is one seam has let go in the drivers seat. the rest is like new.

<shaking my head>
the only other used ORIGINAL diesel 42 i have seen in this condition is the 1982 BJ42 i bought in 1985. it would be easy to beleive this truck is 3 years old instead of 25 years old.

thanks for reading...

Nice rig, but my guess is it was painted for sure.

No spot welds around the rear wheel wells, dull paint inside the filler cap shinny on the truck.

Not that thats a bad thing especially if it was done right, the new paints of today are far superior to those of the day.

you must have great eyes to see this truck from there...especially to see missing spot welds...

i opened the filler and took some cutter to the dull spot and it comes up shiny...buddy, it is a fuel filler..

not saying it isn't a repaint but if it is there is nothing obvious that stands out.

well, you voice a good concern so i went and did a visual...
all factory seam sealer is in place...

you had me worried there for while...

if I win the lottery this Saturday that thing is mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely perfect IMOP.

If it was repaint the evidence I would say is it is too perfect. Not enough orange peel to look stock. My 84 BJ60 had waay more orange peel stock.

I love the colour.

the top is interesting....retains an oem style but looks alot easyer to remove and replace...any markings on the vinyl or windows as a clue to manufacturer?

looks to be an oem soft top rig? rear oem soft top barndoors...are a definate...but do soft top front door hindges...soft door look typical bestop

thanks BB for the compliment.

when i bought this one Yas told me it was "very nice". i figured a 25 year old truck ould be okay but seeing it in person just blew me away. the condition, although not perfect, is unreal.
for someone looking for a non-restored diesel 40, they would have to look far and wide to meet the condition.
next monday the new tires will be installed as well as the caps. the 2 1/2" aluminized exhaust has been installed, the new factory rad is completed, the fluids have all been changed out, new batteries have been installed, new bumperettes have been installed.

you could climb into this rig and drive it with no concerns anywhere in north america.

the soft top is a very heavy material and it looks like it would go up and down faster than the factory top. i have never seen anything like the bar system. so far i have not found any brand name on it.
the rear bars do look factory.

yep, Calgary for now...
the wife got her transfer so heading to Ontario in the near future...

those are 750/16 and are Jeep Service tires...AFAIK theya re not available in Canada although ENS did sell them as brand new take off for many years...

can you get any more of these tires or do you have any extra new sets besides and what size is 750/16. Approx how tall and wide? I cant find anything on them on web? but I like to find some, what ply?

Rob

i have the last 3 sets of brand new take offs sitting here...one set mounted on factory splits, one set mounted on factory grey one piece and one set is going on htis truck...
