Snow Peak. Took forever to get mine as well i think they forgot till i reminded them. Got the kit and it worked well.

Hmm, maybe they forgot about sending the first one all along lol. On another note, I didn't even know they made a kit for the blower.

Noooo. Don't do that Tanner.

That stuff is not for mechanical lubrication.. It is indeed meant for use on electrical things .... Granted.. But it's used to:
  • exclude moisture (so you don't get short-circuit/arcing problems caused by moisture), and
  • to enable rubber boots etc (on electrical stuff) to be more easily removed/refitted.

(It has enough lubricity to aid occasional movement but not enough to act as a true lubricant.)

:D ...and that is why I love this site. So many knowledgeable people. I'll stay away from the dielectric grease on those ends then :)

Nice rig tanner !
hope to see ya out on the road.
or trails

Thanks Jake! I've been trying to make it out to one of the club meetings at EBI, but every time it comes around my 42 develops a fault haha.

I'm not in the club myself , I've always wanted to join the club but
I just can't seem to find the time to make it out to any of the meetings

I know what you mean. If the meetings were on Fridays than I could make it a lot easier haha.

I took the 42 on a little adventure this past weekend. There is a branch FSR from the Squamish Valley FSR that I saw on google maps; I've been wanting to check it out for some time. I've been looking for a new route to Mt. Cayley and was hoping this FSR would take me to a better starting point. I didn't get to the very end of the road; started to hit snow and got very steep. I was by myself and didn't want to risk it. According to my GPS, I hit about 4000ft above sea level. Camped out at 3500ft.

I ended up turning around and found a place to setup camp. My brother in law helped me build a sleeping platform for the back during the Easter long weekend; so I have been itching to try it out. I would prefer if it was a tad lower; but wanted to keep the passenger seat in. I can always lower it if I decide to take the seat out every time.

I'm going to give it a few more weeks then head back up there and try and reach the end.

Beautiful 40-series, country and photos...

I'm sure I'm going to run out of disk space one day with all these pictures I download...

Tanner,

Every time I see your pictures, I swear I am going to make a trip to BC. My 40 is in for an engine rebuild right now. When I get it back and make sure everything is in good shape, I'm going to start planning a trip for next year.

Please keep your enticements (pictures) and suggestions coming!!

As Tom said, "Beautiful 40-series, country and photos"!!

Thanks for sharing!!

X3! I agree with Tom and Danny about the 40, the country, and the pics.

Don

Beauty truck (again), and excellent pictures. I really like the sleeping platform you've got rigged up. I've been thinking of doing basically the same thing for my truck. I'm 6'5" and have slept in a ball in the area between the jump seats before... Rather not do that again. How do you find the leg with
your platform?

BTW Tanner... I like your sleeping platform!! But, you're right, it's a bit high... I remove only the passenger seat back when I put my sleeping platform in... that puts my platform at fender well level and passenger seat bottom level. Maybe you could lower your platform by only removing the seat back...

@vanisle3b42 ... like you, I am 5'6" o_O ... my platform is fender well level, with the passenger seat back removed. It runs dash to back door, down the passenger side... which only allows almost exactly 6'... fine for me... bad for you... you would need to run your platform diagonally, from the glove box to the opposite back corner... I think that would give you enough leg room. But, would either need to be higher than fender well and center console level or eliminate the center console.

Very good write up Snow Peak, awesome 42 as well. I'm glad you're using it as it was intended...to explore less traveled roads. I'm sure once the novelty wears off on my rebuild I will be brave enough to take it off the pavement, but that will still be a ways off. Keep up the great posts. Cheers.
