We're going on vacation that week (15th to 21st) so I won't even start on it until we get back. But, it probably can be done in a day.

I'm really looking at the ACC ride myself. Def one of my favs.

Ha! I gotta get out of here once in a while. And I'm already perpetually a day behind so I'll be like 6 or 7 days behind when I get back. It will realistically take me... 3 days to catch up.

Well, I'm back. I think I need a vacation to recover from my vacation though.

I'm up at the shop today trying to get caught up on some emails and such. Countdown to the "Lowe Toyota sponsored" (totally not really but sorta just happened that way) ride at GMP is on. I think I'm just going to swap the tires and add the PS cooler. I'll get it ordered on Monday.

Glad you guys made it back safely.

Well, looks like I'll be working on the truck this weekend. Going to swap tires around, install my PS cooler, and put some gas in it.

Thanks!

The truck is mostly built at this point though. The better reading is probably on the previous 41 pages.

It's only 17 pages if you set your forum settings to display 50 posts per page :D

I've read through already. You've done fine work. I'm subscribed to see more pictures of this rig out on the trails :smokin:

Yeah for sure. Lately I have found myself focusing so much on driving that I haven't been getting many pictures. I'm going to try to pass the camera off to someone this weekend so hopefully I'll get some shots. I've also been kicking around the idea of buying a GoPro or one of the other similar cameras.

I'm not a go pro fan .. well maybe the Hero 3 it's kinda better if you buy it with the screen pack ( touch screen ) but I do all that I need with a Sony TX20 for stills and videos .. if only videos Panasonic HX-WA30 seems to be ( to me ) a better option ..

hi jack over ..

Sam, that's what happens when you really get into it like this. You spend all your time "working" (driving, spotting, stacking, pulling lines, etc.) and don't find time to stop to take photos. I have a GoPro2 and don't use it a lot either. Before I had the wireless remote and smartphone app, I used it even less. I do like using it, just is too much effort to set it all up and keep track of it sometimes while wheeling. Besides, sometimes there's just no "safe place" on the truck to attach it. You're welcome to borrow it this weekend if ya like though.... But in all honesty, that would be more of a benefit for me than you since you won't really see your own truck in most of the videos, just the ones around you (another disadvantage of on-board cameras).

I was trying not to hijak, but since you chimed in :D

I've recently got a Hero 3 HD Black edition. I've made a magnetic mount for it so I can mount it wherever on the cruiser and I've been able to get some pretty cool videos! I love mine and highly recommend it!!

The coolest part about the Black edition is that it has wifi, so you can connect it to your phone, or tablet or laptop or whatever, view the live video preview from your phone / tablet / laptop, change shutter and resolution settings, then stop and start video right from the app! By far the coolest feature. Only downside is that you can't see the video on your phone / tablet / laptop while the video is recording, but that's OK.

In addition, it's waterproof, so I have no problem letting it be under the truck in the rain or mud or snow (not that we get snow down here).

I'm sold on the Hero 3!

I agree 100% Steve. It's hard to stop yourself and get pictures. Plus you're usually driving so unless you have someone else with a camera... We can put the GoPro on my truck this weekend and I can follow behind you if you want. Like you said, it won't get much of my truck but we might get some cool video of yours.

And, I know precisely zero about all these HD cameras these days. I've heard people that LOVE the GoPro and people that hate the GoPro. The ACC guys all have Contour cameras I believe but I don't think they are waterproof or anything.

How much is that Hero3 going for these days?

We can rotate it around to accommodate anyone who wants some video. Just hard to keep the batteries charged. One of my favorite vids is with it pointed backwards showing the next truck coming up. If you can find a good place to mount for that view, I'd try it.

I think the going rate is still $399, but I didn't look any up to verify.

This thread it's going like camera video thread Sam .. :D

Last hi jack .. both cameras I mention in my post are water / sand etc etc etc proof .. and the thing to me it's I like to go down walk to the pretty spot and take some pics / vids of others while in any interesting obstacle ..

Brian's Contour is waterproof but mine is not. They have a few different versions now.

Stupid easy to use.

↑↑↑ This would be a HUGE deciding factor IMO. ↑↑↑

See if you can tinker with those at some point too if they'll let you. Be a great way to see the pros and cons of both cameras.
