I have power steering again!!! :bounce:

Now as long as it can hold out for a weekend of hard abuse... :hillbilly:

I also ordered a handheld CB (I got made fun of bc I was the only person last time that didn't have one). But after reading the reviews I'm less impressed. I ordered it because it was cheap but a lot of the reviews say that the range is horrible. I'm not too worried about it bc I will always be close to the trucks I'm talking to. Hopefully it won't be too bad. I will report back my findings.

I have been meaning to snap a pic or two of the LED dome light installed. Maybe I'll go do that after we shut the shop lights off...

I feel like it doesn't look as bright in the pic as it really does. It's night and day difference from the old one tho! (No pun intended)

You can tell it's super bright!

Agreed, I need some of these for my pickup and the 80.

They are pretty cheap. I know there are some vendors doing full kits (like PFran) for the 100s, 80s, 60s, etc.

Got my handheld CB in. Gotta go buy 9 AA batteries now... I plan to test it out on the ACC ride next week. I'll let you know how it does.

Be prepared... That thing is going to suck if you don't put a real antenna on it. The cab will block 90% of the transmissions.

Yeah after reading the reviews I kinda regret ordering it. Someone I know ordered this one: https://www.cobra.com/detail/75-wx-...-radio-with-soundtracker-and-noaa-weather.cfm and I'm thinking I may sell the one I have on CL and order one like he got. It uses a real antenna and everything but it has everything integrated into the handset. So no radio to mount to the dash. Looks like a lot better quality also.

Yeah, those are nice. Handhelds aren't bad as long as you run an external antenna. You could get a mag mount one for cheap. Personally, I run Uniden 520XL's. You can find them on sale for $30. For the rest of the stuff, I hit up a truck stop. I've never spent more than $50, never tuned them and they have always worked great for wheeling.

Is this the one you thought was a good mobile cb?

If they aren't worthless, I'm thinking of grabbing a couple for this Honduras trip.

The one he linked looks like a mic with a display in it. It is actually not in the mobile section, it is in the regular cb section an the second page (from their mobile page that is)

I like the one you posted and was thinking that would be a good one for me. They had another one that came with a magnetic antenna to help with signal. If that one can plug into the cig lighter then I may have hit amazon and see if I can get one two day'd to the house.

Hey Daniel. That does look like a better version of the one I have. The one I actually bought is a Midland 75-785. The one that Dan bought is the 75 WX ST. It's a handheld but it actually runs to a cable that goes to an external antenna. It's like a traditional CB but everything is integrated into the handheld part. The issue with the mobile versions like the one you posted and the one I bought is that the antenna doesn't transmit well. (I think it was already stated in this thread as well) If you are inside the truck the range is severely limited. If you have the time I would get the 75 WX ST and run an external antenna. It's only about $30 more than the one you have listed.

jynx, if you are going to get a handheld you should go ahead and get the external antenna. I think after this trip I am going to sell mine and buy one like Dan's. I turned it on when I was on the way home the other day and I was picking up signals from semi's on the interstate a couple of miles away but I'm sure they wouldn't have been able to hear me.

Sounds like a plan. I might get one and then mount an antenna on the rear that I can plug it into when I need it and put it away when I don't

There has been talk of a night ride for the event this week. I picked up a set of Silverstars since my regular headlights are super dim. I'll try to snap a pic with them on tonight when I get them installed.

Got the headlights slapped in.

Edit: Yes, I know they are not level. The spring is missing from the right side.
