Hi all I'm from sunny Queensland Aus. and I have a troopy.
1978 FJ45 L/C V.T to be exact.
Here are a couple of pics
One thing I would like to know, from standard, what is the seating capacity? the plate states 3 which is the front seats, but i have 2 bench type seats in the rear, that would carry an extra 4 people...... a little confused. Any help on that would be great.

Technically I think it's 11 passengers. three up front and 4 on each side in the back jump seats

Welcome FJ-Dave

Welcome to the forum - nice to have another 45:cheers:

The bench seats in the back - do they run the length of the truck or accross? Seat 4 total or 4 each? Jsaltlick is right - usually the Troopies sat 11 total with long bench seats down each side.

Wild looking troopy Dave, with a drop down tailgate to boot. I like it. How much fuel does that thing hold? You otta be able to put a custom wall to wall bench seat on top of the tank area and seat 3 more.

Wild's not the word for it  more seats not sure as yet

Ok, Just popped into toyota on may way home and asked them to do some searching. I gave them my model # and it came up as a troopy, indicating 3 seater. So far it matches (the model id tag is correct).

The troopy I have is model FJ45R-KJQ
that model number means it was a 'rag top' canvas top, was origally made for the army and RAAF. was brought out as a 3 seater.

As for the seats being an option about to look into that, would have to be a mod plate item.

Just went to look for the chasis number (rh side chasis rail).... what ya know....... not there :censor: (removed)

Next step is to get onto the transport Dept and see what I can do.

Just called QLD transport. The deal is... I go and take the FJ45 to the department so they can give it a surrogate chassis number. Before i start or when i am finished they do not care. I gave them the engine number to do a search on and it came up with nothing...... is that good or bad i am not sure.

Now do i continue or sell it for what i can get and find something else???

no you don`t :D
think it´s original the FJ45 softtop version, without rear seats for special military use.

( military had them, saw them in this configuration in Oman and Emirates)

..traveled twice with a Landcruiser 75 through Australia,
West, North, South, nice, nice, nice
:))

Your rear seats are the same, I have in my BJ43 , they are for two passengers on each side.

I vote for dealing with the Dept and seeing if you can get it legally registered. I'd try to keep it and fix it up. That thing is friggin cool. Love the hard top too.

Thanks Peter, I'll pass an your hello's to all the skippies here down under:D
And yes you're right, after some resaerch it is an army vehicle. So as a 45 lwb, and as they came out with 3 seats and 11 seats, i woould like to make this into a 11 seater similar to this one.
That is my goal..
