Hello - just thought it might be a good idea to let you all know my FJ40 will be on BaT shortly - guessing sometime this week.
I might be able to add a link when it posts?
For those of you looking for close to a 'Survivor' - that has never had any body work - it might catch your eye.
I thought it was best not to restore and re-paint it - so it does have a couple smaller dents, scratches and that Patina finish.
I did decide to make it something comfortable to drive - and there were things that seemed to make sense to replace without loosing that sense of originality.
So - I replaced the upholstery, replaced the Headliner, replaced the dash pad, replaced the Door weather-stripping, re-arched the leaf springs and replaced the shocks.
Dash Pad, door weather-stripping, shocks and dash pad all Toyota OEM. Also Toyota mirrors and windshield wiper blades OEM.
New BFG All Terrain Tires - but i did save the spare which was in incredible shape. The wheels are the originals - but I had them professionally painted black with new hubcaps.
The engine runs like new, the transmission shifts smoothly - and the videos on BaT should help with the sounds and visuals.
All smog equipment is there, as well as the original tools/toolbag/jack and manuals.
All of the gauges work, interior dash lights, as well as the turn signals and all exterior lights.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask - i can also send additional photos or those videos mentioned earlier. PM me with your email if your interested and i can send a link.

Our trucks are twins. I have a 77 Freeborn Red, original paint (w patina), 56k original miles, all smogged. I need to re-arch or replace springs. We’re you happy with how the springs turned out? I’ll be watching your auction with great interest!

Very nice. Yes very happy with the re-arching. A local shop called Valley Spring did the work.
They also aligned it and installed the shocks at the same time.

Thanks for the heads up. I actually saw that on Craigslist, he had an ad mentioning it was going up on BAT. It is what I'm looking for. I'll definitely be following it when it posts.

Thanks again for notifying me!
They go spendy on bat, especially the final hours. And know as a buyer there’s a fee for you if you win.
That said, I’d see if you could meet up and inspect it and get a ride before or during the auction. It looks pretty good and they usually post lots of pictures, but nothing like seeing it for yourself. Buy it, drive it home and document the trip!

The videos that will be posted - or I can send them to you individually - should provide you considerable comfort in a decision on bidding. But yes seeing it in person and driving it can’t be beat.
I can drive it on the highway with one hand on the wheel at 60-65 mph :) - that you can see on the videos btw.

Looks like exactly what you are looking for.

Yeah, I didn't want to post negative on his post, but I anticipate it will go beyond my budget. Good for the seller though, just tough for a buyer. Oh well, the hunt will continue....

I sold a 71 I restored last year on there. Didn’t get as high as some but it exceeded my expectations. You nailed it: good for the seller, tough for the buyer.
