I'm not posting many lately because... there are fewer and fewer worthy buys to post. This one has issues, but at least it's original. And for $12,500 there's room for repair budget.

1976 Fj40 project, currently not running. Parked in 2017. Clean body. Only 2 small rust spots pictured. Georgia truck solid frame floors and undercarriage. Has the original yellow toyota bottle jack and jack handles under the seats. Also includes the original owners manual. This is a great candidate for restoration or patina truck. Not interested in trades. Price is firm. Email if interested, I’ll get right back with you.

$12,500

I don't see anything making this worth more than $7k-8k at most if you're in the middle of the rust belt. That exterior color looks like a re-spray, not original red paint, you can see the overspray on the grille mesh. Shade looks way off compared to interior, almost purpleish on exterior. If that t-case shift knob was made of diamond I'd give him his asking price :D

@Stinkerbelle does this fit your wants? Needs work but there should be room in budget vs purchase price.
I agree with EWheeler’s thoughts but if it were cheap enough…

Thanks for pointing it out. I do like it. 1976 is my favorite year, and of course there's that glorious shift knob. The color does seem a wee bit off. Fading?

It's one I'd want to see in person though. If it was within a days drive of me I'd probably go look at it. Since it's in Florida, probably not. 🙂

Thanks!

I agree, you could pound him on the rust issues and get it for cheaper. When I say I've seen worse for more, I don't mean the asking is worth it. Just an observation of the current "asking price" market. But most buyers will shy from the rust, so if you have a plan for that, this could be your rig for the right price. It's at least all there. Well maybe headrests are in the garage somewhere lol

It would be only worth a drive if it was 15 mins away. Its not a diamond in the rough, it's just rough and overpriced. Be patient, the truck you need will find you.

I contacted him also. He bought it non running. I mentioned I was looking for original paint, and the conversation ended there. He did not confirm or deny a repaint

Something look familiar in post 156?

Yep.

I was pointed to it as a good deal by another Mudder, but had something going right then that kept me from picking it up. I snoozed, and lost.

I dont think you missed out on anything unless there was a 50% off sale on the day it went to a new home.
