We sold her today to a fellow Mud Member. I truly believe that a FJ40 is the only vehicle you can put on the market and actually make friends with the buyers.

Thanks Dean - it was great meeting you and your family. Looking forward to seeing you all again.

I feel beyond blessed to be the next in line to own this beautiful 1974 FJ40 FST. There are several reasons for feeling that way, not the least of which is getting to meet and become friends with the previous owners, Joel and Lucy.

Joel and Lucy have owned this 40 since 2012 and brought her back to life--she was a true "barn find". She has lived most of her life in Texas and will be staying here. Joel and Lucy have poured countless hours into making her stronger--they have clearly loved her. She needs work but without those two, who knows where this truck would be right now.

I have included a few pictures below. My family and I picked her up in Smithsville, Texas. The first 2 pictures are taken in that beautiful city. My son is over-the-moon excited, as you can tell.

The chapter of selling her closes. I will be starting a thread to document her transformation back into full fighting form as an FST. In case anybody is wondering, her paint will NOT be touched--her patina stays as is. I cannot say the same for the oxidation on the paint, nor the surface rust.

Joel and Lucy, thanks again. It is great to be able to call you two friends and I look forward to seeing you her in San Antonio so we can catch up and you can see your girl.

Let us know when you start a build thread!

Let us know when you start a build thread!

Build thread underway. I'd love to have you following along!! Please give me any suggestions/recommendations/criticisms you might have as I am going through the build--I am far from experienced. I want to do things right, as long as it takes--not fast or cheap. Especially given that I am doing this with my son, I want to enjoy every minute I have with him in this build.
