Storing it in my garage most likely

Well then mainly just the fuel I like to run it so the stabilizer will make it to the carb. So it's going to sit for 5 months You might also put it on jack stand so the tires don't flat spot. Lastly pull the battery out if it's acid and just disconnected if it gel. Bring it by for sure I'd love to see it

Dean,

That spare tire carrier/bumper was made by a gentleman named Robert who works under the name "Dirtworx.". He can be found on eBay an really is exclusive to jeeps. However there was a mudder on here that actually ordered one of these from him and made a thread called "low budget(or cost?) spare tire carrier". I think it was $400 for everything shipped to my door in raw form.

Thanks, do you think it will work on this bumper?
I have the stock one , but don't want to mount it to the aluminum tub.
The alternative was to weld a pole on the end of the bumper and slide the stock one over it and lock it some how?

I see your going away, I could use some pictures of yours.
I think my PO put a 86 FJ60 axle on the front and I am having trouble running the brakelines, evn back to front.
Do you have any pictures of where your brakeline junction blocks are located. Front axle, on the passenger side frame , does your rear brake line run across your firewall on top of the engine themn down?

It looks like I will have a lot of questions during this build, so if there is anywhere I can access your pictures that would be appreciated!

Thanks Again

Iron pig offroad sells a spindle kit that would work great to weld up your own swing out to that bumper . I used it in my Fj60 duel swing out pics in my sig

Dean,

You could buy that Klingon on just mentioned and contact dirtworx and he would build the swing out for probably 150 shipped raw since he would only provide the carrier and not the whole kit that includes bumper and all for $400 shipped. I'll take some pics and send them to you

Won't be till Tuesday morning or Wednesday morning. Is that okay?

Well I picked up the winches from the blaster this past week and just got off the phone with a powdercoating company. It looks like it would take 2-3 weeks to get the winches back from them. The problem is, I won't be here in 2-3 weeks to pick them up. Anyways here is a pic of some of the pieces. In the mean time I'm gonna have to find another shop, or paint them? Any thoughts? I know painting would be easy, cheaper, and could have the parts done by the end of this weekend. However powdercoat would hold up better I think. I know there are some guys reading this thread that have restored 8274s, would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

Just spray paint em ;)

But with what type of paint? Ive heard the normal paint doesn't stick very well to the old 8274s.

I would think a etching primer and name brand paint would work just fine or even just clear coat if the bodys looks good now

Just dropped the winch pieces off to the powder coater. Looks like it's gonna be about $60 a winch. Decided to go with anodized silver since they have some other stuff going that color and it's possible that the winches could be done by next week. Anyways, looking forward to seeing how they turn out

I decided against the paint for a few reasons.

1. Durability
2. I've got these guys completely tore down, if there is a time to powdercoat instead of paint, the time is now.
3. If I don't get them back before I leave, Chris said he would pick them up and I'd oil the gears and store them for the summer.

I hope the pieces will come back by next week so I can put them together before I leave.

As for my cruiser, I went to pick it up and take if home Monday night. Upon arrival I noticed something wrong with the paint since it was the first time I really looked at it closely under sun. It appeared to have blotches of darker yellow. Anyways, after talking to the painter about what might have caused it, the theory is that the primer bled through??? Anyways I'm not a paint guy so I don't know why that would have happened but it is only in certain areas like the top of the fenders and a few spots on the quarter panels. So it was completely repainted on the outside yesterday and I'm told I should be able to pick it up in the morning. We will see.......

Well the paint looked great, had to change the points, and there was a wire ran to the wrong spot but anyways I think these two pictures will explain... Yup, the cruiser is home and running like a top!
