Production is underway! Here's the original and the first casting!

I finally got the bugs worked out and I'm now in the process of making them. I mailed the first one out today to Living in the Past since it was his original I made the mold from.

These casting are not perfect but look really good. Nice enough one will go on my 40! I've had one sitting in the hot Arizona sun for about a week now and no deformation or yellowing. If you want 100% perfect, these won't work, there maybe small flaws.

The resin I use was recommended by the company for auto glass. But I can not guarantee they will not yellow or deform over its lifetime nor how long they will last. They take six hours cure time in a pressure pot so I can only make two a day at the most.

That looks awesome! Love to have one once you get a price and production going!

They will cost $35.00 U.S each, plus shipping.

I can not guarantee how long these will last before yellowing or if they will even yellow. If you want a perfect reproduction, don’t order one. There are small imperfections. I only have a limited quantity and I’m not planning to go into business making them at this price. I’m just getting my money back and hoping to help some fellow owners in need like I was.

I am still making some as I post this and they take a few days to harden before I can ship them.

Still interested

If your vehicle is anywhere it's seen enough UV I would buy at least two of these. If they do yellow might not be able to find another one. Most specialty projects do not go into long term production. Few years from now can't count on them still being available. When I get mine next week I post up a picture of an original glass lens, new reproduction lens and the lens I got about a year ago that has some small bubbles. It tucked away in the house where I keep my 73 backup lights. As I remember when I pulled out a glass lens to make a new mold it showed no signs of yellowing.

I agree if you need one, buy two. Keep one wrapped in a clean bandana, inside a freezer ziploc that's wrapped in aluminum foil in sturdy box. That way decades from now you can get out a pristine repo lens to enhance the sale your rig.

He won’t sell two.

I guess you could make a copy once you get one. I'm sure the guy isn't getting rich making these, materials and labor for $35 is way more than fair IMHO - 1 hr of shop rate is likely $150 or more these days. Perhaps with the limited production, he is trying to get one to all the folks that ask for one. Maybe pretty please with $$ on top might help. If I needed a few I might be willing to suffer the vapors off the resin and such, but going into production for limited returns takes a purest hero - you guys need to thank him.

Wow.. really nice! Time to put the glass one in a safety deposit box. 😂
