Engine started heating up yesterday so i changed the thermostat and flushed the radiator. My father helped me un-bow the valve cover and it tightened up much better. So hopefully I fixed that problem. The off throttle whistle is still there so next is pulling the intake/exhaust manifold...

Sweet!! Progress is good.

Make sure to talk to Joanna about putting the intake and exhaust manifolds on. It's looking like hers came out really well.

Herman wouldn't fire up this morning at 27°F. The battery has been going for a bit. Since it is mostly my DD I spent the extra money to go with what seems to be everyone's current favorite. 220$ after tax and a 10% discount. Fired right up.

Photos of the TRE and Shimmy Dampener

Here are some photos of the new TRE, Center Arm, and the Shimmy Damper showing the incorrect taper...but I don't think it will be an issue or affect it's operability. Any thoughts?

I've done a couple searches on the topic and have decided to pull the intake/exhaust manifolds in two weeks. I have decided the high pitch off throttle whine has to be coming from a leak in one of the two gaskets. If anyone has any specific advice for this job I would appreciate it. I intend to start soaking the bolts/nuts in PB blaster starting Monday. I will post pictures and thoughts as it progresses. Thanks!

Make sure they are flat and use a quality gasket. Mark's Off Road sells a serious one but I think it says for headers. Probably fine for stock exhaust?

Began work. Ordering parts I need due to damaged/corroded threads from SOR and local dealer. It is tough the resist the while I'm in here craze...almost decided to replace the head gasket this morning...I'll prepare a full write up when I'm done including part numbers etc.

For closure replacing the intake/exhaust manifold gaskets and the various gaskets replaced along the way fixed the high pitch off throttle whine issue I was dealing with. Score. Job wasn't difficult and as long as you soak the nuts/bolts with PB Blaster for a bit before you commence work this job is considered 2 bananas...
