I know it's tan/beige colored. I don't know my original Toyota FJ55 colors though so any insight is appreciated.

I plan on just making this my daily driver for a while, so there is no plan to do anything major to the sheetmetal at this time. Although I might fix some minor floorboard holes and do some preventative rust work in the drip rail area. I've started to make a list of various parts that I need to fix or find:

FJ55 Parts Needed:
DS Door Handle (the original seems to have been smashed by something heavy at some point)
rear reflectors: Napa replacement maybe? PART # LIT 47TD rear reflector napa
rear 4WD badge
floor matts (front and rear)
DS turn signal
land cruiser side badges
radio
license plate light housing: Toyota Corona RT4#/5# & Landcruiser FJ55 81270-29035 License Plate Lamp Assembly
headliner
door panels

Parts to Fix:
bleed brake system
side marker: I have an extra one from my FJ40; I'll just need to find the insulator block that is for the FJ55
drivers side mirror (I have the original but it's torn. I'm not sure what I'll do here. I could probably silver solder and have rechromed and the glass re-set
straighten front bumper
miter ends of rear bumper
fix DS front fender (sheetmetal)
dome light switch 9repair switch handle

clean all electrical contacts
clean up wiring

I know there is more to do than this, but this is just the initial list. I'm lucky as mechanically things are sound. I think I got lucky that someone did an earlier restoration/update and so this FJ55 as weathered time a bit better than some that I have looked at.

Door panels - find @a1500ram in here, buy his panels and don't look back. No need to overthink this, his stuff is great!

You can read more about them here: FJ55 reproduction door panels

Side marker lights - the 40 front marker lights (when they used to use them in the bib) are the same "insulator block" as a rear 55 marker light. You just need to swap amber and red.

As for the rear bumper, Mike at Bump It Offroad (BIO) makes a sweet Piggy rear bumper. You can see more in my build thread - link is in my signature.

PabloCruise thank you so much for your help. I spent last night reading through your entire post. All I can say is "amazing work" and I am so jealous of your FJ55. I learned so much for your thread, so thank you for documenting everything. I know this will be a resource for me as I go through mine.

You bet man! Glad my writing can help! I don't always like writing, but I usually like having written (hope that makes sense).

I tend to do my projects dumb, slow and expensive. So if I can help some else do it better than I did, I am happy to do the write-up!

Congrats on finding a nice pig. It's getting harder and harder to do. Brakes are good - and having a clean carb really will improve the driving experience. Being relatively rust free is great - the mechanical stuff can be sorted out over time. Great find

where did you find it? I'm in NC as well.

The top needs to be the darker color, as that is how the 2 tone was originally.

Seems that you've found out that weather stripping can easily cost more than the vehicle itself. Fun stuff.

It was in the Yadkinville area. It was only on Craigslist for a day or so.

I have found out about weatherstripping costs, but I have ordered some pieces for the windshield and I'll be piecing together the rear cargo window weatherstripping as some owners here have done. I think I can wait on some of the other seals.

Yes, I was thinking of actually getting the roof back to it's original color at some time if I ever do the bottom part of the FJ55.

Good to hear from a fellow NC owner! I just moved to the state from Milwaukee to work in Boone.

Awesome find and seems to be in great shape. Glad to have another pig owner in NC. Looking forward to the build. This is going to motivate me to start working on mine.

My wife helped me put a new headliner in the pig today. A few weeks ago, I was able to clean out the drip rail and re seam seal it and apply paint to the drip rail so I could get to this point. The Project MOVIESTAR thread was a huge help so a big thanks to scorcher1967 for al of the details on his headliner install. I had my wife working the hair dryer the entire time we were installing. I still need to affix the corners and do trim work, but I'm really pleased with the install since this was my first attempt at performing a headliner install. By the way: black binder clips are amazing for install if you don't have window channel trim or quick clamps.

Here are some shots of the drip rail repair from a few weeks ago. I sealed the seam with epoxy paint after I wire brushed it with a angle grinder. Then I let this dry and then seam sealed with the sealer you see above. Then I put a coat of paint over the seam sealer had cured. Sorry no pics of the seam after the final paint application.

That is awesome! Your wife sounds like a keeper...
