Im not familiar with the old generator systems...but I too think you have something screwy with your wiring.
Been wrong lots of times though!!! ;-)

i find that i am wrong more often than not haha :)
Only way to learn though :)

Learn alittle more everyday about how all the wiring works, trying to correct bits as i go :D

Gonna pop in the fusible link down the road too for extra insurance :D

Any help is appreciated :)

yea i eliminated the "constant side of my fuse box- everything is switched- i pulled a line off of my battery to the + side of my ignition switch, then the 1st click (acc) lights up my fuse box... i used a marine radio so it has internal station/clock memory..this helps to keep the battery drain down since the car sits for a week or so at times... but my wiring harnes is original just a few mods i made for practicality..

ahh, maybe that is why mine has an extra bit, mine is for a generator.

:)

Dude, they also list generators on the website I gave you. You might try putting the bong down and doing a little search of offered sites on your own.

The main issue I have with my wiring is my headlights make my fusebox hot.
I just ordered up 2 new OEM junction blocks and an OEM fuse box the othere day.
I plan on wiring in relays to take power direct from the battery for my lights rather than send the entire load through my switches.

It also had what looked like the original regulator. Which was NONE to pretty on the inside when I opened it up. Suprised it even worked! Thats why I ordered up the Wagner posted above!

My 69's harness is very original and unmolested and in decent shape. All those old connections drop a lot of voltage though. Which equals heat.
Heat and old wiring harnesses is not a good combo!!! ;-)

I put a cutoff switch on my battery right when I got my cruiser. Its shut off anytime its parked for longer than a little while.
Also added a fuseable link to the end of the big wire going from my amp meter to the starter. When I switched out to a gear reduction starter I needed a few more inches of wire to reach...figured why not use a section of fuseable link wire from napa? Not sure if thats the "right" spot for one or not? Ohh I also carry 2 fire extinguishers in my rig! LOL

nice :D

Yeah the cats at the electrical place said the good spot for the fusible link on our rigs is from the wiring harness where it connects to the starter stud, for me that is the white large gauge wire :)

What is sketch for older rigs is all that hot power under the dash like you mentioned, the amp meter on the older rigs is a direct hot wire from the regulator / generator, kinda nuts :)

The headlight/running light circuit def seems to be the most system intensive on my rig hehe.

:hhmm:..i check this for my RHD 1970 @Toyota dealer. they can get it in 2 weeks..

Cruiser Dan told me there was only 1 left in the USA...I got it, and ordered another from Japan.
Said there was a couple fuse boxes left too.

really?

So Japan has more fuse blocks and the old 6 fuse fuse boxes?

I am calling dan monday :D

Thanks man

Hopefully i can head out east and visit once work slows down :)

Any rides happening soon>?
