After much consternation and debate, I have decided to sell the Pumpkin Truck.

1964 Land Cruiser FJ45 short wheel base, Non removeable top.

Full frame off restoration completed. Modified Stock (is there such a thing?)

Freshly rebuild Chevy 292 straight six, Toyota 4 Speed Tranny, 1972 3 spd t-case, 1972 axles fully rebuilt. Tranny Transfer combo rebuild and assembled by Mudrak. Advance adapters bell housing to go from Chevy to Toyota.

Everything under the hood is new including alternator, radiator, etc.

Stock drum brakes, stock manual steering.

Custom flat bed includes both two types of fences (12" high and 24" high)

Original rear window weatherstripping intact and in good shape.
Original seats re-upholstered, interior completed including all electrical and dashboard switches. Even the wiper motors are rebuilt.

This truck runs great, does 70 down the freeway, and has less than 5K miles restoration. Always garaged, etc. It is a real head turner. :)

Asking $17,500 but will consider realistic offers. Truck is located in Healdsburg, CA. Additional photos are available. The quality here is poor due to resizing them to fit.

Edit 8/27/07 - New asking price of $15,000 Price Reduction
Edit 10/11/07 - New asking price of $12,500 Second Price reduction
Edit 12/20/07 - New asking price of $11K Third price reduction
edit 2/19/09 - new asking price of 10K as is. Final price reduction for Mud, prior to Ebay. (no, seriously this time, really.)

You can also see this truck listed in Toyota Trails for sale, and expect to try an ebay auction soon. (had great response from Trails ad, one person even took the truck but brought it back due to original single master cylinder drum brakes. Should have put disc brakes in, oh well.)

Does anyone have a profile shot of that rig. Straight side shot. I'm thinking of doing the same thing with a flatbed arrangment. Just curious how it looks in a profile.

Very sweet rig by the way, wish I could afford it, but can't.

Does having the flatbed like that, just flat seem to affect the center of gravity at all. I was considiering dropping the flatbed down and putting fenders in it to drop the weight a bit. Is this needed or not, or just the flat the way to go. Thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments.

The weight in the flatbed is that sched 80 roll bar, which also quickly detaches by 4 large bolts under the bed. There is custom pieces of wood filling the space between the frame rails and flat bed, it is very nicely done.

Rancho 9000s control the ride. We used a 1 inch longer shackle, and had the leaf springs 'adjusted' to balance out the cruiser lean.

Details can be found throughout the truck including manual hand throttle, U-bolt protectoin and drive lines are painted in orange/while candy-cane stripes.

The fiberglass embossed bezel was courtesy of John Pardi.

Some history: I bought this truck from Mike Trathen who was going to make a desert chase truck out of it. When I first brought it home, my wife commented it reminded here of a pumpkin truck... and the name stuck!

Great looking 45. I'm curious why you went with a Cheby instead of a 2F when you built it?

While I did not want to lose the straight 6 low end torque, the 292 was much more available and less expensive to have rebuilt. Coupled with the 4 speed, this truck moves right along down the Hwy.

In hind sight, I wish I had simply gone with the mated 4 spd T-case behind the 4 spd tranny as opposed to using the earlier 3 spd T-case. I wanted to added crawl ratio, but now realize that does not make sense as this truck is certainly not intended for extreme trail use in its current state.

There are after-market gauges installed to monitor the life blood (oil pressure, temp, charge) and a hand throttle to aid during winch usage.

and it comes with a book completely chronicaling the entire rebuild.

Thanks for asking!
