It makes me wonder if other dogs bite/attack just as often as pit bulls, it's just that with pit bulls it's more often lethal? I'd read somewhere that pit bulls had been considered for police dogs at one time because of their overpowering strength, but that they couldn't be controlled as well as other breeds to stop.

That's pretty much the story as I understand it. They finish what they start.

My fierce mutt Charlie viciously hunted down and killed a rabbit yesterday; then brought it to me. I was very surprised; he always chases rabbits but never catches them; he seemed very happy. He has a little terrier in him, which prolly is where this came from. He also has some Aussie in him and rounds up cattle without training. Dogs do what they're genetics tell them.

When I was looking up info the other day, I saw that Rottweilers, statistically are bite more often. Pits are second in stats. Don't know the rest off the top of my head.

The difference between pits and rotts is that the rotts stop the attack and don't cause as much trauma as the pits. I don't have any use for either dog. I would eat either one if barbequed though. No joke.

It is terrible.

But people are still more worried about wolves than they are about their family pets.

I just don't get it.

Wolves impact my lifestyle more than pitbulls. But I wouldn't mind getting a couple tags for some local pitbulls as well of course.

s***ty for the rabbit. I like rodents (and yet I didn't vote for Kerry. BA-ZING!), so that kinda bums me out. On the other hand, as far as your dog thinks, he's bringing you a gift. Our old cat used to bring my mom these HUGE rats she'd kill under the house, as if she thought she was protecting us from them or something. Animals is the kwaziest people...

And to add my $.02 to the dog argument, I've had friends growning up who were raised with pits and rotties. I think the biggest thing people don't realize is that individual traits of the dog have a big hand in the matter. Even if a dog is raised well in a loving family, there could be just that one little quirk that makes him flip out. Or even if he thinks he's playing nice with little kids, end up inadvertently hurting them. None of us know exactly what goes on in these dogs' heads. If we did, it'd make it alot easier to stop these maulings I would expect. I say punish the deed, not the breed.

One of the people who takes us out bear hunting lost 4 of his hounds to wolves a couple of years ago. I haven't been able to chase cats since. In the area we hunt, the deer hunting has gone to hell since the pack up there has exploded.

1) Only pussies hunt bears with puppy dogs.

2) Haven't checked the deer stats, but since wolves feed primarily on elk, the
elk harvest in the unit I hunt has gone from 112 to 279 over the last 5 years for general any-weapon season, while the wolf population has grown geometrically.

3) As a hunter, you suck. :grinpimp: :flipoff2:

Lost? Sounds like you mean fed! Stupid to bring your pets into their home if you're not looking to have them eaten then. I hate the stupid a$$es in AZ whining about loosing a poodle to the Mtn. Lion so they want them shot! THEN MOVE! That bugs the hell outta me to be honest! Use your brains people.

In Yellowstone the lack of wolfs led to the beaver and aspen being almost whipped out.

Anyway, here's my sweet little guy:) My youngest daughter is 3 and they've been like two peas in a pod since she was a baby. Anytime she would cry the Hugo would come running to make sure she was okay. Just look at how cute and friendly he looks..

Makes me sad to see him when he was so little... Still under 100 pounds in the picture...

1. I will relay that message to Big John Pyle. With reference to the originator.

2. Which pack resides in your area.

3. I only hunt with bow or muzzleloader. Anyone who has to hunt with a centerfire is a crock who shouldn't be allowed in the woods.

Obviously you do not understand the hounds comment.

I let Barbara know myself next time I see her. :D

3 Packs overlap, includes the Gold Fork pack.

Do you use training wheels?
