I looked at that exact kit today actually. I priced out the same parts on one of the OEM parts sites and that comes in at about half the OE cost, as long as it's as good as the reviews suggest it should be a Saturday project. @dnp you have any first hand experience with that one? I am also taking some of your advice to heart and I'm looking at going ahead and swapping the radiator while I'm in there, thoughts? I saw in a 120 thread that one guy did his alternator too, but at 100k I think that one could wait.

Definitely install a new thermostat and oring when you are at it. And the kit above from @dnp is nice. I have used it before. Those are the same exact parts as provided by Toyota.

Well if it gets the LCP&C seal of approval, then that makes a big difference in my world. I am still going to be looking at this whole radiator situation and may yet need to get one of those from you and that should be enough to meet the minimum order so I won't feel bad about adding the t-stat and o-ring onto that order. :D #jynxdontnickleanddime

Ordered TKT-021 kit from amazon. Going to try and knock out any other PM stuff while I got it torn down. 110k mile list right now is:

TB kit
Thermostat
Air filter
Plugs
Radiator(?)
Coolant
Acc belt

Anything else that should be looked at/ replaced/ etc while I have all these covers pulled off?

Feel and listen to the bearings in the (a) fan pulley bracket (fake water pump), (b) serpentine belt tensioner pulley, and (c) idler pulley. At 110k, I'd be really surprised if any of these need replacing, but while you're able, I'd check them.....seems like @euclid had a tensioner bearing fail at "lower" miles, but I can't remember the number. Also, I'd check your heater hoses and oil cooler hoses, but unless they've been in contact with something, they're almost certainly OK at that age. Unrelated, but at 110k, also time for new plugs.

EDIT: Oooops. Just saw you already mentioned plugs.

Thanks @dnp I looked around some in the 120 section and I didn't find a good tech thread. I may put one together when I do the service just for future reference. No sticky'd FAQ over there yet either which I thought was interesting.

Laugh all you want, but this is the reason you haven't head from me in a while. I've been trying to make a list for you that's actually over $100

Andrew, if the $100 is such a big deal send me your $23 order and I can spend a day chasing it down and eat ramen that day. Would that make you happier?

I don't even know why I waste my time anymore.

I meant it in a nice way; trying to say I'm trying not to waste your time anymore...

Got the rear axle sorted (diff, calipers, brake lines)

And got the transmission back on and flexplate bolted, but managed to lose that little plastic cover for the starter hole since last weekend. So the starter waits to be installed as I wait for ACC's next parts delivery from @beno express. Happy with the progress this week. What remains is installing the new tcase, reinstalling exhaust system (new hardware in hand) and drive shafts. Then it's new fluids for trans, tcase, axle, brakes.

It was an option/upgrade for $50 for new flange or they send you a used one. I don't think it's much bigger than the one I have - it might be the perspective in the photo.

It's also triple drilled, so I'm guessing it is a little bigger, but I'm guessing the picture isn't helping either.

What was the report on the diff? How did it fair?

Pinion bearing was oil starved, gears look fine. Will be fine for a rebuild (by ACC, not me).

Gear oil leak?

Was wondering the same. Sounds like Rick got the gear setup spot on if the gears look good after all the other events of that day.

I made a dumb mistake when I reassembled the diff in June. I took the side cover off the elocker to reseal with FIPG - I had never done this in the past. I forgot to put the two bolts back into the side cover after letting it cure. Once I got all the other parts installed it's not as obvious and I just overlooked it. Cover was still there but enough oil had leaked out the lower bolt hole that it starved the pinion bearing. Probably only .5" - .75" low from the fill plug.
