Update on 12 degrees north rock sliders.
12 Degrees North has still not delivered the sliders I ordered 6 months ago in august. I emailed asking to have them shipped within two weeks or I want my money back. James there tries to call me, but I’m working a few days in a weak cell zone, and I don’t want to talk - I email back I want a response in writing. I get no response, today I sent another email that I’m going to contact PayPal and report them as committing wire fraud. Did I go too far? If you sell something online and don’t deliver, isn’t that wire fraud? The reported lead time would have had them delivered a couple months ago.

i bought the WKOR sliders "straight out" from the body, i use them as a step to access the roofrack much easier

I thought I would summarize my research on 100 series sliders. Note shipping cost may vary by your location.

Recognize this is a snapshot in time. There is also chance that I made mistake in my research and what I listed could have error(s).

I use open as no plate(s) on top (less of a step look). Closed have plates on top (look more like a step).

I wanted DOM steel and powder coat. That is price listed is for this option unless stated otherwise.

- Rocky Road: multiple people on ih8mud indicate they are junk. Did not consider further.
- MetalTech: appear nice but 1) not very customizable (no BL customization) 2) missed thanksgiving sale ($300 off) even though code is still listed on their site (they offered to extend for me to end of week which was a nice offer) 3) shipping is expensive (starting at almost $300) 4) cost is highest or near highest ($1535 - $300 discount = $1235)
- White knuckle Off Road (WKOR): has customization for 1” BL. Open and closed options. Product price reasonable plus 5% ih8mud discount (mudmember18). $1050 before coupon with no top plate but DOM equal $1k after coupon. Shipping is $145.
- Slee: $1145. Not customizable. Not clear that it is DOM steal. No open design. Shipping is expensive, $420.
- Owl expedition: mostly does not exist. There have been a few prototypes. Production unpainted was forecast at $900. No customization. Closed design.
- Cruisin’ Off Road: no longer in business.
- Trail Tailor: did not see any sliders on their site. Maybe discontinued.
- Bump It Off Road (BIOR) currently not taking orders due to material delays and long list of orders.
- 12 Degrees North: real long lead times. Appears to sell Rocky Road sliders that are heavily criticized on ih7mud. Did not consider further.
- Shrockworks: does not make LC sliders.

Most of these sliders look to be well built and have good reputations.

I liked that metal tech reached out and offered to extend their discount. I do think it was the right thing for them to do because the discount was still listed on their site. However not all vendors do the right thing. Their interaction with me was top notch.

I chose WKOR. It was largely due to my LC has 1” body lift (BL). WKOR was only vendor that offered customization for BL. we also had a preference for open design. WKOL offered options for open and closed design, but some venders offered only closed design.

Hope this provides someone else a head start on their series 100 slider research.

I installed the new WKOR sliders today. It took my son and I just over 2 hours to remove existing and to install, but this included digging tools out of a too messy garage and figuring out a few things. On the positive we had nothing major go wrong. We did not have to torch or cut anything off. I suspect it could have been done installed in just under 1.5 hours.

I fear that I may have been sent the slider without the 1" BL customization which would suck as I noted above it was the deciding criteria to go with the WKOR slider. I believe it is the non customized slider because the gap is 1.5". I was expecting a gap about half of that amount. I have a call to WKOR and to their credit they have already contacted me. They have not confirmed or denied that it is the wrong version (they are looking into it). Certainly I expected less than 1.5" gap with the BL customization. I would have thought with no customization that the gap would have been 1.5" to 1.75". Seeing my gap is 1.5", I suspect I got the version without the 1" bL customization.

I will try to respond with an update when WKOR determines if I was sent the correct sliders.

I will say the sliders seem wrong, but it is a slight hassle to install which means this is something you desire the supplier to get right.

WKOR indicates I received the correct sliders and the gap is necessary to clear the pinch seam. I wish the gap was less, but I am glad to not have to uninstall and re-install. I am also very happy with how quickly WKOR got back to me with an answer. Seeing it is Sunday, I was not expecting to hear from them today and would have felt good if they contacted be by Tuesday (tomorrow (Monday) is a holiday for some).

Installation was easy. 3 U-bolts per side. Communication was outstanding. Product looks good. I suspect the 1" BL was going to result in a larger gap than I desired regardless.

Now my son wants a re-gear and front/rear e-lockers. It is always something.

I received my WKOR sliders ~2 weeks ago. I hope to install them this weekend. Hopefully installation will go smoothly.
I initially thought I received sliders without the 1" BL customization because the gap is 1.5". I contacted WKOR and they got back to me real quick (especially considering it is Sunday). They indicated I received the correct version and the gap is necessary to clear the pinch seam. This is one of those good/bad answers. On the good side, I will not need to uninstall/re-install sliders. On the bad side, the gap is larger than I was expecting. The large gap results in an unfinished look, but I suspect that is the consequence of a 1" BL.

The uninstall of existing sliders and reinstall of new sliders took my son and I just over 2 hours. This included getting tools out from a too messy garage, removing existing sliders, figuring out a few things, and clean up. I suspect the uninstall/install could have been done in just under 1.5 hours. On the positive we hit no significant difficulties (did not require to torch or cut off anything).

The WKOR has top quality customer response, the installation was fairly easy (3 U-bolts per side), and the product looks well made. I do wish the gap was less than it is, but I suspect the gap is reasonable because of the 1" BL. I would order from them again.

+1 for WKOR, I got the full length cover. Looks great and functions great.

My WKOR is like this. I've owned mine for over 2 years. It sits outside in the elements. I think the 15-degree angle lets water run off the diamond plate. The hardware is still nice and shiny.

Mine take an extreme amount of abuse. I use the kick out to rub up against a tree or a rock to pivot around a sharp corner. I'm running the non-AHC versions on an LX470.

Just ordered a set of WKOR. Plain open with powdercoat and 15* angled with the mudmember18 discount and shipping came out to $1152. This appeared to be the best deal on sliders that I could determine right now and coupled with everyone's like for them I feel good about it. The U-Bolt design stressed me out until I learned that it was common and that it's safe for hi-lift jacking so let's gooooo.

Bought the new formed sliders that Slee sells. They have made sliders like this for the 200 for a long time, but just recently released these. I have been trying to build this truck with parts that don't look "homemade" and these fit the bill. I have had tube sliders on the last couple trucks which have been great but just wanted something different. I like them a lot so far although they were on the expensive side.

Yes took a couple before installation. Slee touts these as a step and slider. Im using them for #1 a step and #2 rocker protection. If I was rock crawling and needed an actual slider to slide over things and take serious abuse I would have gone with a tube slider but I just dont do that with this truck. I researched the 200 section and people seem to like them so I went for it.

Description from Slee website:

The Slee SliderSteps for the 100 Series Land Cruiser (also fits LX470 with AHC removed) is a fully functional step, but also a rock slider at the same time. The sliders are manufactured out of 3/16″ laser cut steel plate. The main body of the slider is formed as a single piece.

Sliders are now made from High Strength Low Alloy (HSLA) has nearly twice the strength and impact resistance of general purpose mild steel (A1011 and A36). 30-36ksi Yield strength vs 50ksi yield strength minimum.

The side profile is formed with multiple breaks to add in strength. The top of the sliders have two removable aluminum thread plates. These tread plates are supplied in textured powder coat. The tread plates are designed to minimize slipping, even in wet and icy conditions.

The mounts to the frame are 7GA formed channel welded to 7GA plates. Attachment is done using 3 7/16″ U-bolts on each side.

It's a bummer, I saw that these came out and was thinking of getting a pair, but I want to keep my AHC. That said, I don't care about the step section so I'm probably better off going with tube sliders anyway.

OEM flaps are plastic, I'm sure you can heat them up and push them into place.

I bet if that middle leg was removed they would fit with AHC...

I don't think you went too far. If they are not willing to communicate in writing thats a big red flag. Thankfully paypal is setup so you should be able to get your money back if worst comes to worst.

Did you ever get your sliders?
