@Mauser - I like the avatar :) I, myself, have a 1948 Czech 98K sporterized to 300 Win Mag - my primary hunting rifle...anyway

Quick question about programming a new master for my 99 100 Series.

The process appears to include cycling the driver door lock a number of times.
I have weakening motors in my lock actuators so It does well the first one or two times
but then falters and fails to lock or unlock completely. I can hear it trying.

So the question is:

Does the door lock need to succeed in its attempt in order for the programming to succeed?
Or is the electronic "attempt" enough to complete the programming process?

Does that make sense?

You can just use the manual door lock on the driver's door. No need to cycle all the actuators.

Do these procedures work for GX470 keys as well? I am trying to help a friend with a 2004 GX. She only has a valet key, but I have techstream, and as I understand it, could program a new master key if I have a passcode. She has purchased an aftermarket key body with buttons and already has a cut blade to install in it.

@Mauser, can you help with a passcode, or is there some way to get it myself? I'd be glad to make a local food bank donation for the assistance.

Yes, you can add keys to the GX using Techstream.

You can get a passcode here:

If you send me a message I can help with a token. No charge, just do something nice for someone you don't know.

Hi All

@Mauser thanks for all the info you shared in this thread, very very informative.

I have a 98 LX470 in the Middle east region. I got a master key with the car (no buttons / FOB) its a plain single master key

from what i have read in this thread, i need a

HYQ1512V Long Blade with 4c chip to program

i do have techstream which i will use for programming the transponder. i cant find the transponder code and hoping HYQ1512V will be the correct one. Fingers crossed on the Freq.

if anyone has done the 98 model please advise on the freq and FCCID

Thanks

That key should work. The 4C chip os for the immobilizer and the HYW1512V is the frequency for the wirless door locks.

Thanks to @Mauser for this great thread. Using what I learned here, plus Techstream, I was finally able to program another Master Key for my 2007 LX.

The 2006 and 2007 model years use the code HYQ12BBT transmitter instead of the HYQ1512V transmitter. Being a Lexus it also needs the code 68 chip and not the 67 for Toyota, Getting this combination together proved challenging.

Being bullheaded, I first simply ordered a set of keys that Amazon said would work and had them cut. Those keys might be fine for a 98-05 LX, but will not work for the 06-07.

Having already cut them, I tried to program the ECU and the Wireless Remote using both the instructions in this thread and Techstream, with only failure as my result.

Not wanting to pay $150 for a new key from Lexus, I decided to try another key listed on Amazon as having the correct parts, but being listed as for the RX350.

What I failed to notice what the different button placement for this key, with "PANIC" in the same position as "LOCK" and an additional button for "PWR DOOR". Checking Amazon and eBay again, there does not appear to be a perfect match for the key that I need.

Given that the key likely had the Lexus chip for the transponder, I decided to swap over the parts to my previously cut keys and see if I could get anywhere.

Initial results in Techstream were positive, I was able to quickly register the key to work and start the car. Success! I decided having a spare "dummy" key was better than nothing.

Moving on to the Body ECU and trying to register the wireless remote was less successful. After two attempts that resulted in FAILURE messages, I decided to quit. However, after starting the car and testing the key, I instinctively used the fob to try to lock the car after I had wrapped up. To my surprise, the wireless remote works mostly as expected. The "PWR DOOR" button causes a beep, but appears to have no other effect.

So for anyone looking for keys for a 2006 or 2007 LX470 that does not care about the "PANIC" button, I'd suggest trying out the second set of keys above.

Man i need to disucuss with you based on your re-search. I have been trying to program a FOB for my LX470 1998.
I got the car with a master key but no FOB, ive already purchased to fobs and both have been FAILURES and no success on programming it.

I have not cut the keys and not tried to program the transponder, I want to program the FOB so i can unlock / lock the car and then go ahead with the cutting.

Remote Car Key Fob 4C Chip for Lexus LX470 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 HYQ1512V from Ebay

but no luck with successful programming the FOB. im at a complete road block, i was thinking if there is a way to check the transmitter unit and check the serial to come to a solid conclusion on what key fob will work

Did you check that the panic and unlock pads were reversed on eBay keys? This was the issue with my eBay keys. Once I figured that out they programmed no problem. I took them apart and swapped pads when I got the yotamd fob

What are the correct functions of the remote lock/unlock buttons. Obviously they lock and unlock the door but is anything else suppose to happen like a beep or horn sound? Also if the remote unlock is used I have noticed my doors will lock again after ~60 seconds. Is this the correct functionality or do I have something wrong occuring?

On my 02' LX, I get two beeps when unlocking and one beep when locking. Lights flash as well. I believe the car automatically locks itself if you don't open a door within 60 seconds after unlocking the car.

I picked up an 06 LX470 and only have one master key. I've looked at the ebay link and it looks great but I'm confused as to what programming/programmer I'd need. I'm thinking I don't need to reprogram my ecu since I have a working master but I'm not clear on how to program the new keys?

Any help for this idiot would be most appreciated!

I was unable to program the fob on my ‘98 LC for close to 20 years. It ended up being a bad unlock warning switch assembly on the ignition. I was able to jump the harness and finally program my fobs. I ordered the part for $20 or so, but haven‘t installed it yet. 84052-33040

Have you by any chance measured the voltage of the (ksw) key unlock warning switch circuit?
I have been diagnosing an issue with my immobilizer circuit which ties into the KSW circuit. The workshop manual shows both 10-14 volts as well as 3-5 volts, I am measuring 3.6 volts. Clearly there is a misprint but which is right has yet to be determined since I haven't resolved the issue.

Cheers
