Hey guys, got a tech question for ya.

Just bought an '05 this weekend. Drives great, but under low acceleration I get an awful shudder. Happens when truck is in OD and at around 35 mph, 1200 rpm. Can only get it to replicate at this exact point. Tried the same scenario in (4) instead of (D) and all is good. Seems the torque converter is not locking up properly. Regular/Hard acceleration and highway speeds in (D) have no issues.

Did a search here on Mud and found a couple of matches to my problem, but no real follow up to a diagnosis, or solution. Wondering if any of the CLC crew has had any dealings with this?

Hoping this is not a precursor to trans failure...

Thoughts appreciated.

I used to be a boat building geek. A lot of folks used sea dek in lieu of marine carpet or non skid coatings. It's a very cool product and they will customize it. Just remember, much like "land cruiser" or "Lexus", anything with the word "marine" attached to it is inherently more expensive and sea dek is higher-end within the already high end marine space. Why most folks only used it on their swim platforms.

While it looks and feels cool, unless you plan on constantly standing barefooted with wet feet in the hot summer on your tail gate, a lot of technology you pay for in that product will be irrelevant.

If you want, nose around on the iboats forum (restoration section), which is the mud of the boat world and you will see of projects using it.

Anybody replaced the rear hatch struts? What did you use?

Strong Arm off of ebay. On my old 80 Series, my 3rd Gen 4Runner and my 99 100 Series...hood and lift gate. They are direct replacements (10 minute install), work very well and a fraction of OEM pricing.
