It really truly is. I love making things, I love camping and exploring. This combines the two so couldn’t be more enthused! The only thing that tamps that down a bit is having to work with vendors who really don’t want your business. I’ve already been though a couple of laser cutting shops before finding a good fit. I just feel bad it’s taken SOOO long but hopefully we are getting close! Thanks for the continued interest!
Ok after a morning meeting to correct some CAD/CAM issues that arose in translation from one program to another we are scheduled to have samples completed by mid/late week. Once tested we are a GO!

Friggin lasers!!!! I picked up the sample today and test fit it as soon as I could. This sample has a few reference lines that production models won’t have. This laser was half the size of my house and I was geeking out watching it work. Just incredible! Minor issues were noticed with the way sketch up interrupts circles resulting in a faceted cut rather than a true circle. It’s interesting that the software can’t make a true circle but hey, that’s part of the learning curve!
Yeah my tailgate is actually that dirty. Its wiped with Lysol wipes I promise. From cooking to chainsaw repairs my girl gets used! Install went perfectly smooth. The slightly oversized mounting pegs seem to work great! They are 1-2 thousandths larger than made previously and I think there are good to go! My last rack/bracket set has a bit over 3200 miles of testing (just me) and all fasteners were only hand tight and no rattles or issues. Rack also mounted up perfectly level without any adjustments.

So I need to rack up a few test miles but otherwise we are a go! A set was already scrapped for learning the CNC bending program and 16!!!!!! other sets are likely going to be scrapped due to the faceted cuts of the corner radius. We’ll see what can be done though.

I'm still looking forward to this for the later models!
They are waiting in line at powder coat. Once back they just need to be inspected and packaged. There will be 16 set available and I’ll post up a list of who either PMed or who called dibs first. For this first batch It’s the most fair way I can think of doing it.

I understand why companies subscribe to the preorder model but I don’t want any part of having money upfront. I think it’s one thing to have money down a week or two before product is out the door but too much can change in any given time.
I think moving forward I’ll post up a “who’s interested” type of thing so I can gauge how large of a production run I need. What are your thoughts?
