Replacing the rear sensor, the one in the cat. on the passenger side fixed the recurring P0430 code. I replaced it 3-4 weeks ago, w/ a few hundred miles driven since and have not had the code return. I got a Denso sensor through Amazon for about $55. I can't recall the Denso part number right now, but I found it on the Denso website. They list two, one of which is "OE." The description for the "OE" one said it did not have a plug, just the sensor and wires, so I got the other one. Next up on rehabbing the beast will be servicing the front wheel bearings, treating the leather seats, including repairing some torn stitching and a tear in an area that is not stitched, and then paint correction. Thanks Mudders for all the help this community provides.

Good to hear! Your rig should be run smooth after all you've done. I don't recall if you freshened up the vacuum lines, but wouldn't be bad idea. Then you should be ready for next 90k miles.

Can you please provide the part number or link for the rear 02 sensor? I have the same issue and im having trouble which O2 sensors to buy ( I need the rears i can plug in play). Since you have successfully found the correct ones can you tell me which two rears to buy? I found 6 different ones on the Denso website.

Biga27110, sorry for the delayed response. I did not see your question about the part # till today. The Denso part # for the rear O2 sensor that I purchased is 234-4209. This is for the "Universal" O2 sensor, not the "OE" sensor. As I recall, the part description on the "OE" style indicated that it did not include the plug, just the sensor and wires. That is why I went with the "Universal" style sensor. FYI, on their website, Denso lists the upstream sensor as "Air Fuel Ratio Sensor," and the downstream sensor as "O2 Sensor."

I have the same issue for past 2-3 weeks now, here’s the list that I have performed so far:
P0430 error:
• cleaned MAF and Throttle: P0430 still
• replaced all 8 spark plugs with Denso Iridums: P0430 still
• sprayed battery cleaner: P0430 still
• replaced PCV valve OEM part # 12204-50030: P0430 still
• poured CATACLEAN on 1/4 remaining gas: P0430 still
• poured Berryman on 1/4 remaining gas: P0430 still
• replaced downstream O2 sensor Bank2 Denso 234-4260 (OE with plug): P0430 still
- replaced Fuel Pump Denso # 950-0210: P0430 still
- used downstream O2 sensor from Bank1 (known to be working): P0430 still
**gas cap recently replaced with OEM genuine gas cap
**added a condenser fan to help ventilate the AC system

What else am I missing gents?

@Irshfshr Did you ever have stall issue again on hot day ascending a descending at mountains at high altitude?

Did you ever get this resolved? My 07 just gave me the same code. Thinking about starting with the O2 sensor. Hoping that I don't have to replace the Cat Converter.

start with both rear o2 senors, ive gone about 2k miles no issues.

Thank you for the input! Where did you get yours from? Part numbers?

yes eventually I got my P0430 resolved by first using an O2 “sensor spacer” to get it smog’d. A few months later eventually replaced the whole passenger side catalytic converter assembly using OEM part. P0430 never came back since.

Did you do an A.I. system block off?
Did you remove the O2 “sensor spacer” go back to a stock set up?

Hey Paul, no I haven’t done my air induction system yet from hewitt but yeah i took off the O2 spacer when I installed the new cat assy. Reset the CEL using my scanner and P0340 or any other CEL hasn’t showed up yet.

How difficult was it to put the spacers in? Did you replace both sides?

Where did you buy your OEM catalytic converter from?

I’m thinking I’ll have to do this too bc I got a P0430 code which came back after I replaced the rear O2 sensor. I have heard a slight rattle and knocking on the cat/pipe, I can also hear a rattle coming from there.

Thanks

I got it from the local dealership here in Las Vegas.

Other than the CEL/code, did you have any other noticeable issues such as hesitation, bad acceleration/sluggishness, bad exhaust smell?
How many miles ago did you change it out?

I'm not sure if I'll go OEM or aftermarket Walker from RockAuto though I tend to do always use OEM (which is almost triple the price in this case but probably worth it).

I just ordered the bolts, nuts, and gaskets since mine are so rusted, and then I'll remove the cat and see if I can see any chunks of catalyst fall out! I should have just bought a scope and looked in the O2 sensor port to see if I could see any broken chunks there.

Thanks again

No hesitation in my case, the CEL is the only thing that bothered me and of course the smog factor of it. If sluggishness is a symptom, I would look at a couple of things like the MAF sensor, throttle body assembly, vacuum lines, spark plugs and the coil packs.

I just fixed mine for my recently purchase 2005 LC 100. The driver's side cats were replaced by previous owner with Toyota OEM cats a year prior to my purchase. The 0430 (passenger side cats) code lit up two days after I purchased my LC100 (hmmm). I found a guy locally who works out of his home who replaced the passenger side cats with new magna flow cats for $250! He sells the old cat and that allows him to offer the magna flows installed so inexpensively. I've driven 1000 or so miles since the replacement and so far no 0430 code and my gas mileage increase from 10.8 to around 13mpg. It looks like it was a bad cat.

Nice find on the home mechanic, saved you a lot of $. Did he just weld it into place? How many miles on your LC?

My gas mileage has recently dropped even worse to around 10-11mpg, but I didn’t have any other symptoms other than the rattling sound. I will just replace the other O2 sensors while I’m under there, and since they are so old anyways.

Great questions. He cut the old cat out and then welded the magnaflows (two connected together) into the gap. It took him less than 45 mins in and out. I have 231k miles on my LC. I feel like a may have a little more power as well. However, my mileage has increased substantially. Good luck.
