04 LC with BIO rear bumper vs 03 Buick Century

On my way to work this morning, sitting at a red light and all of a sudden I'm jolted forward 10 feet by someone not paying attention. I'm ok, neck hurts a little...but I can't open the swing out, pin seems to be jammed in there. Gotta take it to a body shop to asses the damage. Anyone have experience with insurance companies and after market bumpers?

holy s***... buick is totaled and your rig looks the same. hell of an ad for a rear bumper. I bet your rig would have 5k damage with a oem bumper.

Amazing how little damage you appear to have incurred. On the other hand, the Buick is toast.

Yeah, it basically is just missing some paint in a few places. It doesn't seem to have moved at all, but I need to get under it and check out where it's mounted. Her engine ate my hitch cover....anger....

She of course opted for the ambulance, but she looked fine to me.

Glad you're okay!

But when the bumper doesn't crumple that means the energy is transferred to the driver instead of being absorbed. The OEM rear bumper probably would have reduced the jolt by "sacrificing" itself.
