Here is the ammo, and paint process.
I chose a 2 component urethane primer and finish. We have done salt trucks with this paint system, and in my opinion, bulletproof.

Then again , I am equipped to do this phase of the project. I can see where rust-bullet, por 15 etc. would be the choice.

rolling chassis

Have some shots of the rolling chassis. And I answered a thread or became a questioner as well about the rear motor mounts. Just wanted to share . bolt size difference etc.

wondering if anyone has THAT much room with their castle nuts and rear motor mount. I did read the way to shorten up the distance is with washers.

I can't find anymor old pics I took prior to plucking the engine.....

Hammer and chisle and putty knife. Remove when it is cold and brittle. Comes right off.
I actually did that awhile back. I did not post any pics for quite some time.
But you are right I waited for cold.....

propane torch/heat gun

I was wondering(since I now have the digital camera) how one removes the sound deadening stuff, which incidentally is in pretty damn good shape.:beer:

Just warm the metal from the back side a little bit, careful with the open flame technique, might be good to get the parts into a warm area overnight so it is flexible. I did mine during the summer. It will peel off with little effort. the chisel technique leaves chunks and scratches up the metal. Clean up with some solvent or paint thinner.

Well...this is what my schtuff looks like...pass side, then driver's side:beer:

My driver side looks like that, passenger side similar. Looks like you have a large washer? I think I have a wrong size bolt according to the rear motor mount thread. But which hole do I slip the cotter pin thru? Nice pic by the way.

back at it

Well, alot has transpired over the last, since last nov.
I split from the family biz and started my own , and it has taken off tremendously. Meanwhile myself and father in law have been tinkering with the 40. I have some shots of the drive shafts I did in a durable rattle can paint from Diamond Vogel.

I also have procurred a body man(me supplying paint of course). I wanted to ship the whole thing to Proffits. Logistics are impossible, so I am going to call Jeremiah and order the body parts I need.

here are some shots...

still chuggin along

I have been stagnant for awhile with the 40 . Here are a few pics, and questions. Need to know where the skid plates go(can't find em in my pics). First and 3rd pics

Also when I removed the shield below the radiator(2nd pic) the 2 bolts on the side of the frame(where shield attaches) crumbled. Was thinking about using oversized washers there , or possibly getting a new one/used one.

In line fuel bracket

can't seem to find this bracket. Noticed yesterday on a different thread the same deal with an inline fuel bracket not there, and it just hanging there. I have pics of the bracket connected to the battery pedestal. Maybe someone can show me a pic of the bracket.

Need to know if this is necessary or not. Did not know what it was until I called cdan w/the part #. Hoses are dry rotted as well.

Just full of questions tonite

Been looking at my progress, and am NOT happy with the way this looks. Should I remove and get this powdercoated, or just clean it up and spray bomb it?

rear motor mounts

I thank Degnol for showing the pic. What size are the washers, and which hole does the cotter pin go in?
