On a Thread regarding finding a good FZJ80 mechanic in Orange County there appeared to be a pretty good number of 80 owners in south Orange County. All seemed to be interested in getting together with a good group of people.

So how about it all? Is anyone interested in getting together as a group for a BS session, setting up potential trips etc? I am thinking very laid back, perhaps a TLCA association. I will be joining very soon and I noticed that the other few owners I have seen thus far seem to be members already. If it is preferred that it be just a casual group with no official association other than IH8MUD subscribers, that is fine too.

Come one, come all, and let me know what you think. :confused: :)
 
Im from North LA Co and its a pain (traffic) to drive south to the outer rim of SD to attend a meeting. But if it comes together as a mostly 80s group Im willing to drive down. Its lonely up here! :D
 
Joining TLCA is a benefit even if you aren't affiliated with a club. It would be cool to have an all 80s TLCA chapter. I think I'd pay dues just to be a member even if I never wheeled with you or went to a meeting.

Sorry, I agree this should really be chat, but I was hoping to target the 80's only. Next time I will use the right forum. :whoops:

I am new to IH8MUD and don't want to overstep my bounds. I welcome any help and input in getting this organized or if someone would feel better in charge let me know. I figure we can wait a few more days and see who else is in and go from there on the specifics.

Looks like we will have enough people interested. Anyone have any good ideas on the where and when? I was thinking centrally located as close to the most people as possible. We could meet at a restaurant or somebodys house if anyone is brave enough to volunteer. I would but my condo is way too small.

Thanks ginericfj80, I finally got off my lazy a** and just joined TLCA. An all 80's TLCA chapter sounds good to me too.

I'm about four or five hours away from OC, so if you guys come up north a ways for a trip, like Gorman or Mojave or something, I'd love to hop on. It doesn't look like there are a lot of us San Joaquin Valley guys on here.

Oc 80's

Dang, I didn't realize all those 80's I've seen around OC were driven by anyone who knew what they were driving or for that matter, cared. I'm in Rancho Santa Margarita and have had my 80 for about five years. I've also had my 40 for about 14 years with a bunch of 40's and 60's in between.

Count me in!

Thanks Newps, I kind of figured it would get a better response but I didn't want to be a newbie pain to all of the regulars. Glad to hear there are so many "used" 80s local. I am seeing allot of south county guys but I don't want to make it too hard on the LA or SD contingency that want to come too. We can take a city poll and pick the best central location for all or put it to a vote.



As far as day/time I am thinking a weekend day, I am ok with a week night but that could be a long day for those who have to work and drive from afar. How about into March at least a couple of weeks to give all a chance to plan. Perhaps a restaurant in south of the 5/405 split to share the distance between LA and SD. Throwing out ideas. What do you all think?

A couple of questions for anyone. Should we just continue on this thread for awhile and/or when should we switch to a private message forum? Not sure how it normally works. Second, it looks like most of the interested partys are already TLCA members (I just joined but have yet to get my number) so does anyone object to forming an Orange County based, primarily 80's, TLCA chapter? If preffered we can just keep it casual for now and address that issue later.
 
Just a note about 80 series in the So. Cal. TLCA Chapter...we have around 5 FZJ's in the club along with a number of 62's and 60's. It's not all 40's and wagons are definitely welcome. If anyone wants to check out the group, we will be out at Calico this weekend. You can find us up Mule Canyon (2nd one down from Calico Ghost Town). I'll have both my 80 and 40 out there. PM me if you want more info.

I don't live behind the Orange Curtain, but I'm 10 minutes away from North OC. I'd be interested in a meet, count me in.
