I just had a medium OME lift installed on my LX450 at Slee. I am very happy with the ride and results. Robbie did a great job installing it and went through my rig and showed me all the things that needed work. I now know why my oil is leaking since I switched to Mobil 1. He showed me where it was wet at the Valve cover and that the seal needed to be replaced. The seal probably was cracked and the synth stuff cleaned it out. He also showed me that I needed a front axle rebuild even though the birfs are not seeping, a few other things as well. I am very please with the lift and could not give them a stronger recommendation. Unfortunatley for me, the sliders and bumpers will have to wait until I take care of these other issues.

Having never done a front axle rebuild, I will be reserching this as my next project. I'll take it in and have the valve cover seal redone so my valves can be checked and adjusted if needed.

Thanks Christo and Robbie

Romer, you are lucky you live so close to them. I really wish there was a Slee on the east coast.

Hmmm.........i bet with the knowledge on this board, TLCA and some financial backing, it could be done. Christo, ever thought about branching out?

Hi,

What was it that indicated that you needed a front axle rebuild?

Thanks in advance,

Tony.

Urban Land Cruisers (see banner) is on the east coast, David sees a lot of 80's and knows his stuff.

He stuck a dip stick type tool down from an access hole on the top and saw that it was low on greese.

long white zip ties work well for that.

but low on grease.....in the knuckle.....IMOP does not mean its for sure in need of a overhaul, there must have been other signs........

Also thanks to Christo ill be keep in touch you or Ben, Ill keep that in mind.
NorCalDoug, by the way do you have the address or # for that guy, thanks

Safari Turbo's were CARB approved.

Maybe Robbie will chime in later. He showed me the greese level and spun the tires and was able to get some movement rocking the tire back and forth. I did not see any seeping. BUT if Robbie tells me it needs a front axle job, I don't need to poke any further.

I forgot to mention that I also got the Xfer case skid plate. Talk about armour.

Here are some before and after pics of the lift. I am running 285's

As far as the dip stick thing, Cruiser Dan cleared it up when I was ordering the front axle parts kit just now. He stated that you can take a piece of metal or wire and stick it in the access hole on the top to see the level AND consistency of the grease. If its runny (Which mine was) then birf greese and axle fluid has probably mixed and it needs a rebuild

OK Christo, Thanks for showing my mis-statement when I am plugging your shop :D

What I should have said is the greese from the axle and the birf mixed. How is that? Yeah, I know ATF is in the tranny

By the way, you could improve your customer "Lounge" by having a Hooters girl :bounce: bring Chicken wings and beer, but then Robbie wouldn't get any work done.

"ATF" ? you mean automatic transmision fulid ??

Hooters ? I'm shure I can find something wrong with my truck so I can waurent a trip across the country !

I feel a head gasket replacement comming on............Can I just wait for it? :D

Yes, I need to replace my head gasket, but Robbie said I needed to have my valves checked and possibly adjusted. He said that takes special tools. I thought I would take this to a shop instead. Do you think I should worry about having the valves checked? Robbie said this would be a good idea since I have 100,000 miles on my rig. It's running fine. If I don't need to do this, then I could do this myself.

Thoughts?

ah yes........clear as mixed lubes :D

Romer, You missed my point just a bit.

I thought that since the Hooty-babes will be serving in Christo's lounge, I would dash up there and have Robbie do my head gasket while I wait for it in the lounge .....:D

Dan, you come up to Denver and I'll take you to Hooters for a beer, or three!
