Hello,

I just purchased a 1997 LX450 on Tuesday. I am really excited about to some modifications to it. I sold my 2000 BMW 540i back in January, and was really wanting to get a SUV either a Sequoia, LX450 - 470, or a 4Runner.

My adopted uncle just happened to come across it at an auction and after checking it out, well needless to say I'm posting here so you can figure out the rest.

I guess I will be doing some searching on the forums for any information I can use to help in the customization of the vehicle. Anyways, happy to have everyone's experience and knowledge so readily available.

I will be posting Pics as soon as I figure it all out, along with getting an avatar of the vehicle.

Description:
1997 LX450
106,000 miles
Tan - Silver??? Don't really know the color, kinda a Champagne?
2 tone tan leather interior
Brand new factory paint done on it, only 4 days old.
Everything seems to be working that I know of.
275/70/16
Just had the transmission filter changed along with new fluids, and mobile one full syn. 5/30
K&N a/f in factory location.

Oh and lets please get the :flipoff2: out of the way so I can get back to  . I know I'm now the n00b on here.

welcome, sounds like you have done alot of reading, enjoy the info and the truck

Welcome to mud...
I thought all Lexus came with 1 tone? Any reason you change tranny filter?

www.photbucket.com or www.webshots.com

No

My 96 is white with gold trim

If you look carefully you will see the trim on my Chapagne is a slightly different color and it is actually a different color code from the factory.

Ken, I think Ting meant the interior. Only the 40th (and maybe the CE ??) came with the tu-tone interior. None of the LX's had it.

Newbie! Welcome, :flipoff2:

Ditch the K&N if you plan on taking that thing out of the mall parking lots. Why the repaint? And, unless you took that thing back to Araco in Japan, it does not have a factory repaint. :D (Just having a little fun with you...)

The wulf is of course correct. Sorry Ting. Just got off a trip across the country and doing too much scanning.

Maybe PO redone the leather?

Prophecy - Look at the color code in the door. If you color code is 1B1 = Pearl Champagne.

Welcome Prophecy!

If you have 1B1, UA46/UCA46 is the trim color code for the cladding, Light Grayish Beige.
Great, classic Lexus color!

2Xs that . . . . . Welcome . . . . . :flipoff2:

Ok figured some of the crap out!

The color is the pearl champagne,

The reason I changed the Tranny filter was becuase the pan had a small leak. So I figured while I was in there I would go ahead and drain the fluids and change the filter.... Please tell me that was OK?? TY Ting for the color code info..

Beowulf, I repainted becuase this was a salvage vehicle, very slight front end damage, no frame damage what so ever. My uncle owns rebuilder bodyshop, and a seperate car lot. We only replaced the front bumper, the grill, and the hood. Airbags didnt even deploy. So I decided to go ahead and just repaint the whole truck instead of doing a blend since I didnt know how the pearl color would look blended.

I am posting some pictures of the interior, but to me it looks like it has 2 different colors of leather on the doors, you guys will probably be able to tell in a sec.

New updates so far...

I noticed were someone posted about having some money to upgrade, and one of the things I found intresting was the normal maintenance. So today I had all new hoses put all the way around for the coolant system even the ones behind them engine along the firewall, and a COMPLETE flush. I am also going to pick up my 2 new batteries for the vehicle. I am wanting to set up a dual battery system for the extra lighting, and also the audio and video system I have already purchased for the vehicle.

Alpine 4 channel for the mids and highs, Alpine 2 channel for the single 15" sub custom fiberglass stealth box behind the 2 row seats, since I am removing them. A 7" flip out monitor in dash, along with the cd-dvd-mp3, etc... for the dash also, both are single din so they should fill the space nicely. Plan on doing this this weekend if I don't consume to much Friday night....

Looking into what kind of small running lights to possibly install into the factory air vents in the front bumper.

BEOWULF, what is it that you would recommend then for air intake? I do not want to snorkel, but am trying to look for some extra performance beyond the K&N.

I would like to do some basics for some small HP gains, without going turbo or SC. Anyone have some good ideas from prior experience? Brands and what performance you recieved from them? I have already searched through a majority of the forums, actually 6 hours worth, but am still unable to find any numbers to support the upgrades to compare one from another.

Anyways guys thnx for the input and help.... Till tomorrow
