I have 275/70-17 KO2s, a ~2" lift, and KDSS spacers. I had to remove the OEM tow hitch to fit the spare. I could see how grinding away some spare material on the tow hitch could get it to fit, and I've considered doing that.
I just got a set of rock sliders from BAMF and want to paint them with some spray-on bedliner. I'm looking for:
* Something durable that will stand up to some rocks and dirt kicked up from the trail
* Something that will improve the grip when using the sliders as a step

The big box shop I went to knew how to remove and replace my spare. I assume it is pretty standard, as they already had a tool to lower and raise the tire.
If you do a 5-tire rotation, I would confirm with your shop that they do the same rotation you want.
Another thing to consider is that tires do have a shelf life of ~10 years. That includes your spare tire. If your spare has been sitting around unused, its quality may be questionable when you need it. That's one reason why I do a 5-tire rotation...
The tire is right up against the metal bracing at the back, so no more room back there. There is < 1" of space in the front, between the tire and the rear sway bar. I didn't measure, but it's getting tight up at the front. I wouldn't count on putting an inflated 33 in there, but you might be...
I installed my rear KDSS spacers today and was subsequently able to fit my 275/70-17 spare tire in the stock location, fully inflated. I removed my tow hitch previously, so I can't say whether it will still fit with the hitch installed.
