Video of Caribou with Locked Antlers

Nice move. About 34 years ago, my field partner and I were on a hydrology mission up the haul road. Going through Atigun Pass, my partner recalled how the year before, he’d spotted a couple of caribou bulls going at it way down in a valley and he thought they might have been stuck. I got my...

    FJ40 (soft) Suspension

I didn’t put a huge number of miles on before noticing the difference. The springs that I removed were horrific by comparison, so almost anything would have been an improvement.

For Sale 2008 Tundra LTD LH mirror

I’ve still got this mirror. It’s in beautiful shape. Surely someone has torn one up. Will let in go pretty cheap to someone who needs one.

Recommendations for, experiences with trailers for long hauling FJ40s.

Lots of people long hauling 40s around on trailers with various levels of efficiency sturdiness, suitability and safety. Let’s hear what seems to work, what doesn’t. What’s borderline or substandard or overkill. What GVWs, construction/build types, suspensions, brake axels, tiedowns, ramps...

    FJ40 Seat Foam

I can be pretty hardheaded sometiomes. It probably would have been easier and quicker to just order the foam. Even going the route I went, the foam wasn’t cheap. Add in glue, time and uncertainty of it working well, it might be better to just bite the bullet and order the foam.

    FJ40 Seat Foam

Nope. OEM 78 FJ40 seats, original to the truck. Cruiser Corps covers over self refurbished foams.

    Builds '78 Refreshtoration, what next?

Yep. I too was able to install my new dash pad with the roof on.

    SOR Seat Covers

Yeah, I’m thinking that is some pretty flimsy vinyl. Maybe a bad bond or thin layer? My original seats, although trashed, didn’t show any wear like that on the edges after 40 years.

    Reunited 40s

Nice score. My 78 spent its life in Fairbanks until I drove it down to Juneau a few years ago. It too is all stock original except the wheels.

Recommended Quiet Muffler For Stock FJ40

I took my 78 into a local shop and asked them to replace the rusted out mess. I was actually surprised to see what they put in. Maybe these pics will help some.

    Can this roof be saved?

Yep. I agree. Mine was worse as well. I hit it with the top sander to roughen up the bite. Flipped it upside down and scraped and sanded all the foam off the bottom, being careful not to inflict more damage. Cleaned it a few times with lacquer thinner and acetone and started laying chop...

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

I’ve done a fair amount of roll and tip on my boat trim and it turns out pretty nice using a small amount of a ”special“ thinner. Probably nothing special about it but it was the same brand and on the shelf right next to the paint. I’ve had some spots that looked about like yours and I...
