Nice move. About 34 years ago, my field partner and I were on a hydrology mission up the haul road. Going through Atigun Pass, my partner recalled how the year before, he’d spotted a couple of caribou bulls going at it way down in a valley and he thought they might have been stuck. I got my...
I didn’t put a huge number of miles on before noticing the difference. The springs that I removed were horrific by comparison, so almost anything would have been an improvement.
Lots of people long hauling 40s around on trailers with various levels of efficiency sturdiness, suitability and safety. Let’s hear what seems to work, what doesn’t. What’s borderline or substandard or overkill. What GVWs, construction/build types, suspensions, brake axels, tiedowns, ramps...

I took my 78 into a local shop and asked them to replace the rusted out mess. I was actually surprised to see what they put in. Maybe these pics will help some.
Yep. I agree. Mine was worse as well. I hit it with the top sander to roughen up the bite. Flipped it upside down and scraped and sanded all the foam off the bottom, being careful not to inflict more damage. Cleaned it a few times with lacquer thinner and acetone and started laying chop...
I’ve done a fair amount of roll and tip on my boat trim and it turns out pretty nice using a small amount of a ”special“ thinner. Probably nothing special about it but it was the same brand and on the shelf right next to the paint. I’ve had some spots that looked about like yours and I...
