Is rust a concern in these (like 100's)?

For sure. When I’m in CO, it’s not a bad drive down to NM or UT or even AZ if I see one that’s native to those areas, and others, I’ll get on it.

    Exactly! Ha.

Quandary LC/LX or T4R or Tundra

True enough. I do need to remember this. Especially since I may not have a garage or my tools where I’d use it.

    Ha. Oddly enough, I had a 2020 1/2 ton AT4 and a 2021 3/4 ton Denali. Should’ve kept the AT4 for sure.

Is rust a concern in these (like 100's)?

Thanks j404. I’ll continue to look for good ones that aren’t solid black with undercoating. I’ve been scared away from rigs with any undercoating. I suppose if the right one presents itself, I could take to a body shop and have it thoroughly vetted. I really don’t have time to deal with much...

Thanks! No magic anti-corrosion frames, I suppose.

Is rust a concern in these (like 100's)?

I know it's always a "concern" but as I've been looking at the a 100-series, I started considering 200-series. The 100's, if they had spent any tine in the "salt belt", seem to be prone to serious rust issues. Do the 200's have the same concern? Sure, I'd check anything I'm serious about...

Quandary LC/LX or T4R or Tundra

Thanks! I need to continue to deepen my understanding of the market. After learning that I am probably safest avoiding undercoated examples (hiding rust) that have lived in Northeast or "salt belt" states, I am particularly sensitized to potential issues. Hopefully, I can find a really good...

Quandary LC/LX or T4R or Tundra

Please bear with me, hoping to hear your opinions. Pardon the length! I jump between the 100-series and other choices! I need something to drive on the East coast for roughly the next 2 years. I’ve got a ‘22 GX in CO where I’ll spend roughly 40% of my time. My wife will need a new car in 2...

Consider this Rust a deal Breaker?

Thanks! Yeah, it certainly appears nice but I don’t have the time to mess with anything right now. Like you said, if I must have one of these, I’ll just pay the price for something from the desert-ish country. The first one I liked was from a Ebay dealer who is supposedly a “specialist” in...

    Sorry, it’s a 2004. Dark gray w gray interior.

Consider this Rust a deal Breaker?

I’m looking at this one with 120K miles. It’s exceptionally clean but this is the pic of the undercarriage. I can’t get to it in person so thought I’d ask you experts….deal breaker at $18-$22K?

Reliable Method to Verify Frame Condition on Possible Buy

I just told the guy I’m not going to buy it. Too much unknown. Thanks for the education!

Reliable Method to Verify Frame Condition on Possible Buy

I wondered about that myself. Can you tell if that’s the rubberized type of undercoating or are they all equally concerning? I’m certainly not married to this one.

Reliable Method to Verify Frame Condition on Possible Buy

Thanks! So there’s no way to tell if there was/is severe rust under the undercoating? Here are a couple of pictures of undercarriage. Sounds like perhaps I should skip this one. I’m in no rush. Better to eat a deposit than deal with a nightmare later. I just don’t know enough about these...
