Electric Power Steering - any DIY solutions out there?

The Toyota column seems like a good way to go. I imagine the mounting would have to be similar to other aftermarket column swaps. Looking at photos I am not sure how the pass through the firewall would work. It would take some fabrication. If doing an EPS, it may make sense to go from the...

Seat ideas for my build…..let’s see what y’all got…..

Lots of people use the procar rally seats or corbeau. I used BMW seats with the frame above, but it took some custom brackets and removing the sliders to get them as low as I wanted with the gas tank in the cab (1970.)

    Any update on Topnault?

Lots of items up today. It looks like the prices on a few items I have been considering came down (components, not a tub or anything big)

    My 1975 2F Holley Sniper Install….

Looks nice! This is the Tanks Inc unit? What video did you reference to determine the hole location?

Rumor has it - new master has built in Front/Rear balance

Pressure is resistance to flow. Brakes work by moving fluid from the MC to WCs, so while people treat hydraulic oil as incompressible, the brake components are not equal in resistance and fluid will flow towards the path of least resistance, engaging that brake first, or require less fluid for...

    Radiator Painting Options

A lot of times brass or aluminum need to be etched for paint to adhere well. There are chemical ways to do it, as well as etching primers. Perhaps that is the difference with a radiator specific paint?

I was told that it does, but I admittedly have not tried installing it yet

    1970 in CT

I drove it around this weekend which helps keep the motivation up. I never put the top back on for the winter so it has been in the garage. I put it in 4 low with the vacuum 4wd mechanism and under dash selector linkage and the light worked! It never did in the past so the harness rebuilds...

    3F engine to a 1970 FJ40 frame?

Regarding a transfer case, does it have a split case or a 1 piece case? The 1970 would have had a 1 piece case set up for the 3 speed. It can be adapted to an early 4 speed that had a 1 piece case, but I do not think the later split cases behind 4 and 5 speeds interchange. The shifter...

@orangefj45 was a huge help in confirming I got the correct parts for this rebuild. Excellent customer service! I did not expect my order to get here this quickly, thanks! I am adding a t case saver and double lip seal. I am not done soaking and cleaning parts but I am not sure how long I’ll...

I posted on a stand alone thread that the 4 speed input shaft pilot bearing surface is worn about 0.010. Got some great feedback from Mud on ways to deal with this! The 5202-ZZ bearing is probably the easiest solution, but that is TBD because I plan to complete the T case first. I have to...

Mud to the rescue! Thank you!

Worn Transmission Input Shaft Pilot Bearing Surface

I was thinking something like that, maybe turning it down and shrinking on a sleeve, or perhaps I could get it plated up 0.005 per side. Loctite makes bearing retaining compounds that would handle 0.005 per side, but I’ll hate myself if I ever need to get it out in the future

Worn Transmission Input Shaft Pilot Bearing Surface

Yup, 15mm ID sealed bearing. This one must have locked up and the shaft spun in it. I didn’t realize it was bad when I bought it, only noticed it now going through and inspecting it. Doing research I’ve seen others use a bushing for just that reason, let the bushing wear rather than the trans...
