The sand as well as the mud here in the Philippines is soft and deceptive, and air down is the only way.

Do regular hills under torrential rain apart from the mud in the farm and it never has let me down so far, for sand I deflate down to 22psi and it works out real good.

Only chalk test can reveal the right pressure for your vehicle with an E rated tire, anything over 36 makes the FJ into a horse cart.
