Never had that W spring... either the 98 FSM doesnt call for it or I have aftermarket pads in there and the spring didnt fit. I cant remember which. That's why the holes in the pads where the springs hook into are covered in brake dust.

Sorry to hear. I would suggest using electronic ears to zero in on the sound. From experience, it could be any number of things and using ears will cut down on the amount of exploratory surgery.
