Wtf is this thing

I have no idea what this thing under the hood of my 1999 landcruiser is. It is wired into the harness in the engine bay and a wire running into the fuse box, any help would be appreciated

Can you look for markings on it or get better pictures?

on my car that's where the controller for the wiper blades sits, but it doesn't look like that
 
the fact that the blue wire is cut means whatever it is probably is disabled

it's definitely aftermarket, based on wiring. im guessing that the other ends of those wires are spliced and not connected

the yellowish square on it makes me feel like it's an alarm or sensor. Could be one of those trackers/disablers that buy here pay here dealerships put on their cars, but that's usually at the drivers foot well.

If it's neither of those, it could be a really old electric anti-rust control module


In any case I feel like youd be okay just removing it. It's aftermarket and disabled, so no harm could be done
