    ‘89 FJ62 Hidden Rust PSA

I was installing my new rear hatch seal from @TRAIL TAILOR and found some severe rust along the bottom, under the old seal! 😢 I’m not sure how one would go about properly repairing such a thin strip of metal, so I liberally greased the area and am hoping it’ll stop the rust for now! The rear...

For Sale 4 Chrome Wheels off my 1989 FJ 62

I’d love to have them, would you happen to be in or close to Alaska? I’m just worried about the cost of shipping them…

    24v wiring issue - I’m stumped

What you’ve pictured appears to be an accessory fuse, not a fusible link. Although not 60 series specific, this thread gives some good info on them. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/bj42-fusible-link-replacements.857466/

    24v wiring issue - I’m stumped

I bet your glow plug system is similar to the one on my 12v truck. There’s a high voltage (12 volts) that is active for the first few seconds to help the motor start and a low side (6 volts) that keeps the plugs warm, but won’t melt them. I bet the high side was active when your starter...

    24v wiring issue - I’m stumped

Like Eurasiaoverland suggested. Put fuseable links on there prevent this from happening again. I don’t have any 24v experience, but have you checked the relays and fuses? Relays generally have a signal wire, ground, and two outputs. If you poke a volt meter on the signal side, you should get...

    FJ62 wet diff breather

My breather hoses were nasty due to the old rubber had degrading. It seemed the rubber had become permeable and the oil was soaking through and creeping. I replaced them with some fuel line from Napa, cleaned the vents throughly, and all is well! I’m not sure if mine had been replaced at...

What did you do with your 60 this weekend?

I Installed a new receiver on the ‘89 today. I stole the old U-Haul unit for the ‘87 this winter. Decided the nicer rig should get the new receiver - boy did I underestimate how hard it would be to get one to AK! I eventually got one with free shipping courtesy of Bezos. It’s for an ‘04 Tahoe...

5 Speed Diesel Decal (Plate) Info?

Hey, Does anybody have information or a source for this nifty 5 Speed Diesel decal (plate) from an early '80s Toyota pickup? I haven't been able to find it on any parts diagrams or Japanese decal website. Cheers!

FJ62 Pesky negative battery cable at passenger motor mount

I just clipped and abandoned that terminal. I believe the instructions had an alternate mounting location for the new ground? As much as I wanted to get rid of it - it just wasn’t worth potentially cracking a hose and stranding the truck until I could get parts!

    My Land Cruiser (FJ62)

Ya know, I tore my steering column apart shortly after making that post and found the aforementioned “donut” was full of dog hair and grime! Super easy project, and they’ve worked perfectly for years now!

What did you do with your 60 this weekend?

Edit: NVM google says it’s literally a brand of undercoating product, my bad! If you don’t mind me asking, what’s NH oil? In the last decade we’ve started using Calcium Chloride in Alaska (even as a dust palliative in the summer) it’s really taking a toll on undercarriages!

Last weekend we begin the 3000 mile drive to California. I’ve got the full story in the “My Land Cruiser FJ62” thread!

    My Land Cruiser (FJ62)

Took the third out and had a shop replace the bearings and swap the guts for an Auburn LSD. It only took care of half the clunk, the other half is certainly the worn splines on the output shaft of the Transfer-case. I highly recommend putting an LSD in the rear if you’re in there. It does very...
