When you're talking about using a FJ Cruiser kit, is that because it provides higher angle boots? Or just the exact same as GX470, but Toyota parts will be cheaper?
Thanks!!!
I just had the dreaded "pop" this past weekend...so, I've been catching up through this thread. I found this video:
He says something about being able to also use LS amps. I've googled around & can't find any info confirming this...does anyone know if/which amps might be able to be substituted...
I love the easy set up of the Falcon (it literally takes under a minute!), but it's no longer big enough for me, my wife, & a growing 9 year old boy. So, I'm upsizing to a Condor XL (& will have to put up with the longer set up).
-This is the original Falcon, not the Falcon2 or Falcon Pro.
-It...
To this setup:
Rays Gram Light 57DR-X (-10 offset) with 275/65r17 BFG KO2s
Serious rubbing...both front & rear on the front tires. I think it's all just plastic though (no interference with the body mount), so it'll just take some time with the heat gun to get it worked out.
I have two to show!
My truck has the Dobinsons 2.5" lift in the front with Dobinsons shocks & the "air bag trick" for a ~1.5" lift in the rear.
I just switched from this setup: 4Runner Trail wheels with 255/75r17 BFG KO2s
No rubbing!
I like this design! When I was doing mine I did a lot of searching around & I don't think I saw anything like this!
I still like my wider table (near full door width), but this tucks in nicely if a smaller table works for you!!!
@Rednexus Can you elaborate on Long-tube headers are easier to install? I have the dreaded "tick" & would like to do DTs, but I from what I've read I thought both short & long tube would be equally terrible to install. Are the long tube easier just because you don't have to weld the cats back on...
No, I think the dashcam is a whole different "add-on" to buy. I don't live in a giant city where dash cams are needed/prevalent.
I just purchased two back up cams & wired one to the front. My goal is to use it off-roading, that hood containing the V8 really blocks the view!
They can run any app (Waze, Gaia GPS, Spotify, etc.), but they need data either from your phone (as a hotspot) or a SIM card with its own plan (plugged into the unit).
I finally got my front cam installed...just like everything, it took more work than expected, but I think it'll really help spot obstacles over our big hood while off-roading!
I installed my cam in the Lexus L on a simple foam block that I cut to get the right angle to see over the bumper...
Update; I finally got around to doing the firmware update, which involves downloading the T'eyes file onto a memory stick & plugging it into the USB cord from the back of the unit (I still don't understand why this can't be over the air, since the unit gets data from my phone). It has solved...
If you do some searching on here you'll find lots of info on the Grom & Phoenix systems.
My understanding is the Grom has Apple CarPlay & Android Auto as it's main benefit.
The Phoenix is similar to this T'eyes system, & the advantage of these Android "tablets" is that they can download & run...
For what it's worth, I would NOT go the Joying route. If you have non-nav, (first, the rest of us are very envious!!!) you have the ability to get any double DIN radio, which will not have any of the issues of this "tablet style" receiver.
I've seen lots of non-nav guys on FB going with the...
