DIY: Replacing heater hose pipe T's *important*

Legitimately asking because I don't know...do you really think the majority of the forum members here are going to the plumbing section of the home improvement store when the part spec'd for our vehicles is only $10 on RockAuto and elsewhere? And what I'm saying is that even with the...

DIY: Replacing heater hose pipe T's *important*

Perhaps not, but the metal T's spec'd for our vehicles didn't work well with the factory spring clamps, as described above and by many others. As mentioned, a workaround is to use the Breeze 9408H (bottom port) and 9410H (side ports) clamps.

DIY: Replacing heater hose pipe T's *important*

I just did this job and thought the OTRAMM video was gold. Such a great tip to use the Kiwi right angle pliers when dealing with the OEM spring clamps. I thought I could improve on Toyota's plastic tees and replaced with the Autotecnica metal tees (part # TY0617365-PRM), but had mixed...

100 series / lx470 alternator replacement quick tips no pictures

Notes after doing this on a '99 LC: Process: My process ended up being same as the OP, ponytl. The alternator came out the bottom after removing the radiator hose. There are two transmission cooler hard lines at the bottom just behind the radiator. I needed to loosen a positioning bracket so...

    Alternator replacement in 2023.

There were three choices when going through the online site of my local dealer's parts department last week. I went with the 100-Amp in my '99 LC, which was significantly less expensive than the originally spec'd 80-Amp. Maybe the higher amperage was standard on the LX470? I had no...

    Oil Filter Sizes

There are two oil filter sizes that fit the North American 100-series V8 2UZ-FE engine. In Napa filter numbers, those are the 1348 (OEM and equivalent to YZZD3) and the 1516 (larger but fits and is equivalent to Wix 51516). The Napa 1515 does not fit, even though I've seen it recommended...

    Nomad Suitcase Grill

It has an open/closed slide switch on the side. You can smoke low & slow with the case closed and the slider in the Open position. Tel-Tru thermometer built in. Honestly the price doesn’t seem bad to me. Aluminum lasts forever. Was considering the PK.TX tailgate grill, but once you add the...

    Brake system flush

Agreed. When you look at the costs of the brake system components (Brake Booster Pump, ABS Unit, Master Cylinder) and the importance of good brakes in a 6000-lb vehicle, OEM is an easy choice.

    Valve cover gasket tips

I think this is a judgement call only you can make. FSM says do it. Mine were bone dry and very well secured by the cured FIPG, so I left them alone and have had no issues.

    Brake system flush

My fluid appeared the same color as wyattroa's was here. After reading these threads about the $4k ABS actuator tool, I decided have the dealer add it to my timing belt/water pump job. When I picked the vehicle up the fluid appearance was the same as before. Unhappy, I took it back in and...

    Oil Filter Sizes

Has anyone here successfully used the larger Wix 51515 / Napa Gold 1515 on a 100-series? The frame rail was too close for me to screw it on. But Napa's website says it fits my '99 LC.

    Valve cover gasket tips

Looks good to me. I mean, the torque spec is what it is to compress the gasket correctly. It felt not very tight to me, too, but I imagine a lot of the bolt snapping issues come from a mechanic deciding the torque spec wasn't enough.

    Valve cover gasket tips

Having just completed this job, thought I would add a few comments. This job took a whole weekend, which included heavy degreasing, soaking bolts in rust penetrant, and replacing the valve cover gaskets, spark plug tube seals, PCV valve & grommet, and spark plugs. For those on the fence about...

    Seat Heater Element Issue

If this were me, since the OEM part is $400+, I would buy one of these aftermarket kits. Heating element only is $100 and heat + ventilation is $400 (per seat). You would cut out your factory system and then use the 12V power already wired under your seat. The aftermarket button is...
