    1HD-FTE piggyback ECU removal

Thinking about this a bit more, check the location where the stock ECU should be located. It might still be there. Looking at your other thread, it looks like the truck is an auto. I don't know how the transmission is controlled, but it might be through the stock ECU. Been a while since I've...

    1HD-FTE piggyback ECU removal

I think you'd be better off selling this rig and getting one that is stock rather than trying to swap everything on this rig back to stock. It seems like it would cost more money this way, but I've done a build on a 2JZ....You are doing a reverse build if you swap everything back. It will cost...

    1998 HDJ80 with 1HDT - Refresh

So many good things happening in this thread! I too have all the parts to replace all the body mounts. Just need time to do it! What did you use to clean the climate control buttons and get them white and clear again? I have the same visibility issues on mine and would like to fix it. Looks...

    1994 HDJ81 - Call Her Bertha

One part of my drive where I was paying attention for comparison is travelling at 100km/hr, slight incline I'm now at about 420 C. I used to be about 460 C. Ambient temperature about 25 C. I'm also running an aftermarket turbo and it's only about 6 psi at 100km/hr on flat-ish ground. Still...

    1994 HDJ81 - Call Her Bertha

Wow, long time with no update. We moved about a year ago and now going through major renovations on the new house, so pretty tough to get any time for anything else. However, I did ditch the adjustable rear panhard bar and went with a factory one with the DVS bracket. I decided to go this...

    1994 HDJ81 - Kicking out of first in "L"

My 1994 HDJ81 does the same thing. Really annoying when trying to slowly head downhill and don't want to ride the brakes. Dang auto transmissions!

    JDM 80 rear spoiler install

First one shown is aftermarket. See Post #4 of that thread for the factory one.

    Official 1HD-T 1HD-FT 1HD-FTE and 1HZ BEB thread

This...IMO... I had my BEB changed when I first got the truck at 110k km. I'm now at 360k km and I get UOA done at 20k km. I haven't seen any changes to the UOA that indicates I need to replace the BEB again so far.

FREE: Heater Valves for Early HDJ81

My truck is a 1994 HDJ81, so these valves close the wrong direction for my truck. I think these work with the earlier HDJ's and maybe other 80s too...? Supplier info showed them closing the other way which was supposed to work for me. Anyway, free to anyone local who wants to pick them up...

Square port exhaust manifold on round exhaust port head

I believe @ZCissner is running an Eclipse manifold on a 1HDT. Maybe he can chime in on the fitment of the Eclipse square port manifold to round head ports on the 1HDT. Which manifold gasket was used? Square or round? I'm interested as well since I have an Eclipse manifold sitting here...

    Air filters

I tried the Toyota washable on my HDJ81. I felt after I had cleaned it off a few times it may not have been as clean as I wanted, so I went back to the disposable. There's no way you are going to get stuff out from between all the pleats. It just didn't seem worth the effort to try and keep...

1FZ-FE JDM Right Hand Drive 80 Series worth it to import to the USA ?

It CAN vary between provinces, but generally doesn't. I think for Quebec RHD needs to be 25 years old. If it's LHD, Quebecer's can import at 15 years....I believe...

    Alternator or batteries?

When this was happening on my truck I was told the brushes in the alternator were getting worn. It was still working, but it's getting tired. I had a replacement alternator installed and no longer had the delay in the lights going out.

What gives with the HDJ81 JDM scaremongering?

It is definitely a good idea to go into a purchase understanding the potential risks and not maxing out your budget so you have finances to do repairs that will inevitably come up; however, once you have the truck baselined, purchase some extra parts and plan out when you will do maintenance...
