You might have a windshield leak. Happened to me. I did everything you did, including routing the drainage hose at the kick panel through one of the floor board holes. Helped some. I didn’t get the leak to stop completely until I resealed the windshield.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Update. It’s been a few weeks since the repair. Trans is working flawlessly. What led to the repair? In a slow acceleration situation, such as after picking up a drive thru order, I noticed zero idle torque induced movement, like I was stuck in a higher gear. When I hit the gas from there...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Get rid of the entire spray gun assembly, circled in red. Use the hose and bottle only. The thickest fluids pump right through the hose.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Thought I’d share. I started using these $8 Home Depot pump sprayers for gear oil a few years ago. Easies way to fill gear oil. 6 pumps, leave it and it will dispense a gallon of oil in about 5 minutes. Used to replace my trans fluid after the solenoid job. No funnel, no mess. Not sure if...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Replaced all shift solenoids on the a442f. Not a hard job at all. Someone was in that tranny before I bought it. I know this because the pan was sealed with a gasket. Never leaked on me. I prefer not to use FIPG or silicon so I reused the gasket. Perfectly good gasket so I reused it. Had a...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Specifics on the vehicle tranny. 1994 a442f. 4 solenoids from Amazon $25 per piece. Cheaper than from Cobra Transmission and certainly cheaper than from the dealership. Boxed as Isuzu OEM parts, parts marked as genuine Aisin. I know this has been covered in the past but figured it doesn’t hurt...

It’s been awhile since I’ve written anything here. Transmission trouble code 62. Solenoid time.

Why do a head gasket as preventative maintenance?

pretty much what I was going to write. The #6 cylinder, yes, that's the area where most of our trucks tend to lose HG sealing. This happens when the truck overheats. Invest in a new radiator, hoses, quality coolant, thermostat and FAN CLUTCH. An over heated engine will cook a head gasket if...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

I bought one from LCP as well. Yeah, I know I can find one for cheap on e-bay or make one but as you said, wanted to support another mud member. I like being able to communicate directly with the seller and product creator. I’ll gladly pay extra for all that.

I’m with you on the shiny black. Not going to body match them though while I agree they would look great, I don’t want to have to pay a body shop to paint if I destroy one and replace it. I might do a matte clear coat.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Thanks to mmcinnis for getting these Kut Snake flares to me. Why did I go flares after going flareless for so long? FLARE ENVY! everytime I saw an 80 with stock flares, I regretted patching the stock holes. I dont have the patience to locate the reinstall the original hardware so I went with...

Added some 1/4 plate to give it more strength and some side attachment points. It bolts through the side of the ARB bumper using the captive frame nuts.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

It’s been awhile. I bought some Ironman recovery points from their web site but they took too long to fulfill the order. In the 4 days I waited for an update, I contracted “diy guy buyer’s remorse”. It’s a bent piece of steel with some holes drilled into it for $100. I took the stock tie...
