    When to replace Ignition coils.

Update: After a little more than a year, 2 of these new coils failed. I was able to clear the codes by replacing them with the old coils I saved from last year. Sorry I had recommended them. Denso for me from now on. Update: Another one failed. Now 3 out of 8. I just order 2 new Denso coils for...

P0300, P0301, P0303, P0304 and VSC TRAC VSC OFF lights! All at once.

Update: P0302 code appeared with rough running. Replaced #2 coil pack and runs great now. Those cheap coil packs seemed great but 25℅ failure in 1+ years is crap.

    204,000 mi recommended maintainence

Right on. One blew out last night on the way home from Thanksgiving dinner. Grandma got to ride home in a tow truck. When I found it this morning, one leg of the tee was broke off and the other two were crumbling like water logged fiberboard. Replacing both tees. Toyota P/N 87248-60460 Pipe...

UPDATE: After a 1+ year of running great, the P0300 and P0303 codes reappeared with misfiring, CEL, VSC TRAC, and VSC OFF lights coming on. I saved the good coil packs from last year and will pop one onto the #3 cylinder.Lexus Workshop Manuals > LX 470 V8-4.7L (2UZ-FE) (1999) > Maintenance >...

    When to replace Ignition coils.

So true. It makes no sense to do the plugs without the coil packs, since all the same parts must be R&R'ed. (add torque wrench? ;))

    When to replace Ignition coils.

Once the engine cover and air intake duct is out of the way, I would say it takes only 5 minutes apiece to replace them. They fit a little more snugly onto the plugs and connectors, but I liked it that way. Make sure you can hear the connector snap lock engage. They are so snug that I thought I...

    When to replace Ignition coils.

These are the ones from Amazon for around $76 for the set. I've only had them in for a week - so far so good! Are they better than the 7 old ones? I would say a resounding "YES!" based on my now purring engine...

    When to replace Ignition coils.

2000 LX470 178k miles, suddenly got P0300, P0301, P0303, P0304 codes and VSC TRAK and VSC OFF lights while driving in neighborhood. Had replaced all plugs with Denso Irridiums 10k prior. Swapped #1 and #7 Coil packs and cleared codes. Restarted engine and only P0304 remained pending. Replaced...

Most satisfying thing you did to your 100

Replaced all the coil packs - fixed spontaneous multiple misfires and improved pre-misfire performance. I wish I had done it as soon as I bought it! Btw, I want that gps stereo for my 2000 LX470. Can you post an ordering link?

Sounds like coil packs to me. Please see my thread below where new coil packs solved the problem. The Check Engine light flashes when the engine speed is causing heat damage to the catalytic converters. (I got that info from the factory service manual which is available for download on this...

P0300, P0301, P0303, P0304 and VSC TRAC VSC OFF lights! All at once.

Fixed it! Thanks everyone! I swapped coil packs between cylinders 1 and 7. The problem went away on cylinder 1 and did not appear on cylinder 7. Then I installed all eight new coil packs and the engine ran better than ever since I've owned it over a year. All codes cleared and no more warning...

Good point. Maybe the engine computer is moving around the spark advance to try to compensate for the valve timing problem. I don't know of a way to check valve timing.

Negative on the fuel, (16-year old girl not likely to fill up LX470 tank!), but more to the point, the fuel level is about the same as when I gave it to her - about 1/4 tank left. Good idea to swap around coil packs and plugs. At least not just throwing parts at it. The VVT oil control valve is...

I was thinking it was one bank, but I came across a photo that shows the cylinders are numbered all odd on the drivers (right) side and even on the passenger (left) side so now I'm not so sure. I think it's unlikely that multiple things went out simultaneously whether plugs, vvt valves, or coil...

The 2000 LX470 (178k miles) has been running great, no recent changes, no LED bulbs (to my knowledge), light off-roading 10 miles every other weekend or so. I loaned it to my 16-year old daughter to get to school and after a few day all hell breaks loose. While she was driving back home the CEL...
